We have now missed the playoffs 2/4 of the last years, gone through a soft rebuild after we missed in 2017 and this is the result. I have ZERO trust in Carroll at this point. We're never going anywhere underneath Pete Carroll. He's accomplished everything he's going to accomplish here.Jville":3086f0ob said:Spin Doctor":3086f0ob said:but it does matter.... Apparently, we have different levels of confidence in the program and the key people who run the program.
No it isn't...this win today is already history...Jville":1hdq7sf6 said:Doesn't matter. Old history.

Yes it is. Stop fooling yourself, this is the 10th overall pick. The chance for Seattle to get truly game breaking talent. Pete Carroll himself even used the excuse once "but we haven't been picking in the top of the draft". Well, now we are and we used in on Jamal Adams, a player that has been truly underwhelming here. Two members of our Super Bowl team, Okung and Thomas were high draft picks.Jville":2rotu0ox said:Spin Doctor":2rotu0ox said:but it does matter.... The front office isn't hobbled by or limited to draft capital. It is resourceful in using all avenues. The late season performance of Jake Curhan is among the latest examples.

I think you overestimate the depth of quality at the top of this draft.

And the fact that even very high 1st round draft picks bust more often than they become "truly game breaking" players.
Jamal Adams hasn't exactly been a game breaking player for the Seahawks either, in fact in many cases he's been a liability. Our lackadaisical approach towards the first round has cost this team dearly. Another thing the draft affords is the ability to sign players on the cheap. Three of our major contributors to the 2013 SB win were drafted by Pete in the first round. You don't get Thomas or Okung without those high picks, even Bruce Irvin was a major player at 15. It also provides you the option of trading down for more picks.Own The West":5oxt1nj7 said:Chapow":5oxt1nj7 said:UK_Seahawk":5oxt1nj7 said:Spin Doctor":5oxt1nj7 said:Yes it is. We have $53M in cap next year.
That's enough to sign DJ Reed, Diggs, Terron Armstead/Orlando Brown, AND Von Miller/Chandler Jones.
Throw in Stephon Gilmore (e.g.) if we cut Bobby...
I'm thinking we weren't worried whether our pick was 10th or 32nd this year when we traded for Adams.
