He's definitely in a position in need of some improvement. The problem is maybe a little bitterness remaining. Is this the beginning of the Rams salary cap woes?

Everybody knew that 5 year deal was a one year deal when the terms came out; the real contract was $10m for one season. The Rams only gain $5m by cutting him, but they are in cap trouble and Bobby's worth is greater than $5m still

Maybe I'm just not as optimistic as most but I don't see him coming back. If he was willing to play here under a reasonable figure he'd still be a Seahawk, but feelings came into the equation with him acting as his own agent. Unless we can majorly soothe those feelings in some way, ie. "It was Fred who didn't like you and we launched him into the sun", then he'll end up with another one year deal elsewhere.

Yeah, I dont see Bobby coming back for less money not after the year he had with the Rams. That doesnt mean the Hawks wont find away to bring him back. Im unsure on if he still has hard feelings for PC and JS as he knows this is a business. I think it just depends on who the Hawks like in the draft. Is there someone who they think can fill the gap until Brooks is back? Would Wagner be willing to be a stop gap? Is Bobby thinking he is at the VERY end of his carear or is he thinking he has 5 more years? These are all questions we dont know. My take on it is that i dont think the Hawks will want to give him the money he wants and im unsure if Bobby even wants to be in Seattle. I would say 45% chance he comes back.

I believe that the Hawks want him back mostly because they need him.

Bobby left Seattle (he got cut) because (he felt) he wasn't wanted (at $10M/year).

Bobby must have a LOT of money in the bank, so money is not an incentive but rather it's RESPECT that is.

How much respect do the Hawks have for Bobby. Dollars speak but Seattle is not flush with cap space.

My best guess... Bobby comes home to the tune of $6M/year on a two year deal.

And the likelihood of franchising Geno slips deeper into the unlikely, which I endorse.

Our communication on defense last year was so bad and our players were so often out of position. I'd love to see Bobby back, even if he only played half the time, he'd really improve our defense just by being here. He's always been a true leader on our defense and bringing that leadership back would really put us in an ideal situation, especially if we can get some young LBs in the draft this year.

If they don't bring Bobby back it'll be a very big mistake considering they just signed Phil Haynes for 5 million.

He BELONGS here. That has to count for a lot. I'm sure he is still sore about getting cut, but this is his home. He is going to be in our Ring Of Honor. He should end his career here, regardless of price.

Sure one of the best to ever play the position has dropped a bit with age but he’s still better than the majority of NFL LBs who started last season, including ours. Wven if we say he’s lost a step, he more than makes up for it with his intelligence at the position and the way he makes players around him better.

Not shocked to see Wagner and the Rams part company. Paying Wagner $10M + $2M in incentives for an aging player who looked like an $8M player in 2021 wasn't a good signing. He played well in 2022 but he didn't look like a $12M player, or a difference-maker. It looked like the Rams were trying to right an old drafting mistake when they passed on Wagner as a rookie. Good luck to Wagner in 2023.

Agree 100%! We obviously lacked talent on the defensive side of the ball last year. But what everyone fails to mention is that besides the lack of physical talent, we had zero leadership on defense. There was no one to hold the others accountable. They looked completely lost at times, and we all saw it. I also too often saw players just going through the motions.

We need Bobby or someone like him to bring some much-needed leadership and accountability back to this defense. We also need his intensity and will to win attitude, something else that was clearly lacking on the defensive side of the ball last year.

Bring him home where he belongs! I don't care that he's lost a step. The intangibles will more than make up for that, and we have major holes at ILB. He's one of the most loved and respected players in franchise history, and he will make the entire team better because everyone in that locker room will follow his lead.

As long as he's willing to accept a reasonable deal given his age and mileage, this seems like a no-brainer.

140 tackles, 6 sacks and played in all 17 games. He certainly has something left in the tank. Obviously not in prime anymore, but a hell of a lot better than anyone other than Brooks at this point. And Brooks is very unlikely to be ready by the start of the 2023 season imo.
