The team could fire Pete Carroll, hire Jim Mora's disappointing child again, hire Matt Canada as his offensive coordinator, and bring Sean Desai in as his defensive coordinator with the cherry-on-top of Tom Cable as the OL coach.

I'd still breathe in the glorious air on the day that Seahawks football returns.
That's not the question.

The question is, another season of Pete and the same issues that precede him.

Do you want more of that?

A Jim Mora, rip the band aid off season would be heaven compared to this, as it would be 1 step closer to getting the real coach in here.

Imagine keeping Holmgren 10 years after his Super Bowl appearance. It would be insane. The Seahawks are currently insane with Re-Pete.

And the Rams and 49ers are reaping the benefits.

If Pete loses next week, he is the 4th best coach in the division.

It never was a total tear down, that was false. Since 2017 I’ve heard this repeated, it’s almost comical at this point. We’re always just one offseason away from going on a run in the post season.

This never was a rebuild. We’ve spent tons of money on aging free agents and we signed Geno to a large extension. We also spent a second rounder on an aging player in Williams.

I’m sorry if I’m coming off as confrontational. Im just frustrated.
I am too. You're not coming off that way, don't worry.

But actually more than half our roster has been turned over in the last two years. And a lot of the replacements they've found have been at least starter-quality. It's an upward trend for sure. This could be our 2011.

They use it like plot armor at this point.

Pete is on the record stating he doesn't know how to rebuild.

If rebuilding is what that crowd is looking for, Pete isn't the guy.

If you coach Ohio State and you can't beat Michigan, you're out
If you coach Navy and you can't beat Army, you're out.
(And vise versa)

Pete can't beat the Rams.
Or the 49ers without prime Wilson.

Can he even beat the Cardinals at this point?

How will next year be any different than this year?? Or how is this year 9-8/8-9 different than last years 9-8 or the previous years 7-10 or next years likely 8-9?

Some of us have been sick of this groundhogs day of mediocrity for a loooong time. Some don't care.

Not a fire thread.

Just asking if people are excited for another season of this.
Obviously, most here would prefer a change. But regardless, it won't matter.

Pete isn't going anywhere. People are just going to have to deal with it.

There's no point in whining about it.

I'm always excited for the season.

So if they announce they are running it back for 2024, another year of Pete.

Your first thought is going to be, excitement? I don't believe you.

It's a valid answer to the question you posed. It went further in stating that even with objectively worse coaching, I'd still be excited.

To answer your question directly, I voted yes. I'll be excited regardless. I'll be more excited if certain changes are made.

Yes. True.
We shouldn't have to, though.

The powers that be shouldn't accept mediocrity after 10 years.

They should acknowledge the issues and fix them.

They love doing that with personnel, but coaching, not so much.

Why even bother to put the poll up if you're just going to stand next to the ballot box and heckle?

Kinda proving @MontanaHawk05 right here, man. This feels like gloating that your case was strengthened by today's loss.

EDIT: And like Montana said, such is your right. But can't we call a spade a spade? You have no intention of leveling with me or understanding my thoughts. You're reading them to respond to them in disagreement.

It's another chapter in the story, and another shot to end things with success. I've enjoyed several parts of this season, and at an absolute minimum, the same will be true of next year if Pete returns.

My thoughts on the topic of Carroll are well-known. We've each written books about it.

At the end of the day, they never do exactly what I'd do in the offseason. True is same of you. This does not render my excitement dead and gone.

Maybe you should try to reach out to Pete or someone in the organization to make change. ;)

Sounds like you have some good ideas.

Like Richard, and Norton before him?

Richard -> Norton -> Hurtt -> New Puppet, won't fix it.

It is Pete's defense.
This isn't accurate though, and that's what's frustrating about the fire Pete discourse.

Our offense and defense AREN'T the same the past two years as they have been the majority of Pete's time here.

In fact, I'd LOVE if we had the Ken Norton defense these past two years. I wasn't big on the firing (and thought Norton was being scapegoated for Russ's inability to keep our offense on the field) but understood it. Unfortunately, Pete went with a Fangio-style defense like a lot of teams did and it's been a colossal mistake.

The problem isn't that Pete isn't willing to make changes. He's made them. But the ones he made on defense have taken our defense from a below average bend-but-don't-break defense to a trashy Fangio-style, hope-you-get-an-INT-because-that's-your-only-hope defense.

You don't have to believe me because I can be excited in whatever the hell I want. Glad I'm not as cynical as you. You have all of the top 5 worst takes in the history of this forum, so go ahead and gloat on getting this one right.

Even a broken clock as they say. It is strange you cheer against the team you're ostensibly a fan of though

There is a light at the end of the tunnel. Jody HAS to seel the team as outlined in Paul's will. It was never going to be put up for sale until at least June 2024 because the Seahawks would have to pay a significant part of the sale cost to the state of Washington.

But come June 2024, that contractual agreement is void. So with that out of the way, and Jody being obligated to eventually sell the team, there's fairly good reason to believe that the process of selling the team could begin as early as the summer 2024/summer 2025 time frame. This roughly corresponds with PC's contract which runs through the 2025 season.

It's not fanciful thinking with no basis in reality that things could get real interesting for the franchise sooner than people might think.

No. I'm looking for well thought out reasons for how anyone can be excited for Re-Pete.

The generic, "I'm always excited for Seahawks football"! Doesn't cut the mustard.

Watching Pete get out coached again? -I'm excited!

The defense not tackling again? -I'm excited!

Crony coaches back? -Im excited!

This is an insane line of thought. And their is no way I can believe it without a hell of an explanation.
