Saw the Hawks first time ever in the playoffs clinching win vs. New England Dec. of '83 as well as many other Hawks games, lots of Ms games, lots of Sonics (RIP) games, feeakin' LED ZEPPELIN, freakin' PINK FLOYD, the freakin' EAGLES, Peter Frampton (with Foghat and the J. Geils Band) etc. Wife saw Zep there as well and also saw the Stones there too.

Was there for its very first Rock Show. Sir Paul McCartney and Wings Over America. Was there the first night. He sold out two shows. He also filmed it and is available on video as Rock Show. Not sure it it's out on dvd now or not. Also saw Zeppelin, Frampton, Stones and Aerosmith.

Got a piece of the wooden floor they used for the Sonics games there.

I remember that day, everyone huddled around the TV to watch it go down.

I remember many games in that noise making nightmare. Raider and Broncos games in the 80s were best.

My parents had end zone seats for the Hawks and 3rd base line seats for the Mariners (for most times) and watching Griffey make the turn was probably the most excitement I have ever experienced there. Heh... then there was Rufus Porter. He must have truly loved that place.

I grew up going to the Kingdome. Nothing like going to watch the Mariners indoors on an 80 degree summer day. Was always happy to go indoors for the Seahawks when it was raining in November.

I once saw Montell Jordan in concert there in center field, for a Kube 93 schools out concert.

This a great Kingdome video:

Was sad to see it go. Had to endure Fulton County Stadium being torn down as well when I lived in ATL.

Who was that cheering in the background? Would've liked to slap all of those braying circus seals with a giant tuna fish.

Why were you sad? Did you like our teams playing in a piece of crap dome made on the cheap?

I've lived in Seattle my whole life, and I was one of those people cheering when we finally blew up that turd of a dome. Because it meant finally constructing two amazing state of the art sport specific stadiums that this city and fans deserved.

Oh I don't know, could it have anything to do with the memories associated with the place, and not the quality of the construction of the place?

Right, cause ALL those amazing Seahawk playoff wins, AFC Championship games and epic memorable seasons we can all look back fondly on. Oh wait, none of that happened, just a bunch of mediocre seasons and Ken Behring trying to move the team.

Other than the 1995 Mariners, which was all of a two month period, very little good happened in the Kingdome. So sorry if I'm not as sentimental as some of you.

Do I love those teams that played in the Kingdome? Absolutely. But I did not love the Kingdome.

One of my great regrets in life is never going to a game at the King Dome. I was either still in high school, or just too broke to go to games when the Hawks played there and everyone that might have taken a young CANHawk down for a game didn't care about football enough to go all the way to Seattle just for a game. <tear>

Memories are made from more than just winning teams. Memories are made from special moments in your life spent with people you care about, whether that be friends, parents, children. Grandparents, grandchildren. There are a lot of people who made special memories in that building that have nothing to do with the building itself. You don't have to have had those, but there's no reason to try to make less of it for those who did

I wasn't. My response was about someone who said they were angry about people cheering for the Kingdome's demise..........so I was defending the fact that people were cheering because it meant Safeco and the Clink were being built, more than happy that the Kingdome was gone.

If you weren't meaning it that way, then that's fine, but that is how it was coming off. Sometimes it's hard to differentiate the subtle differences of the written word

Most memorable Kingdome experience for me (and not in a good way) was at a Monster Truck event one time. There was this very(!) attractive lady who was absolutely not dressed for a Monster truck event! Wearing a pink micro mini skirt and faux fur coat and the requisite gold Deja Vu necklace. I assumed that she was a dancer there! Anyway she was there with her kid obviously. And she had the misfortune of sitting right in front of a whole row of young dudes, who were frankly acting like young dudes at a monster truck race! About a half hour into the event and after several attempts to calm him down by his friends one of the drunker dudes proceeds to blow chunks all over the back of this poor gal. His buddies instantly start pummeling this idiot and shoved him into the isle where security promptly escorted him away. That poor lady was in absolute horror and just sat there for a few minutes before taking off her coat and walking out.

Went to a lot of Seahawks, Mariner, And Sonics games, truck/motorcycle races, and Boat shows there. I still sort of miss the old girl! The Kingdome that is.

We got in line the night before and slept little overnight (partied plenty though LOL). We were right at the front and when they opened the doors we ran into an empty Kingdome that would soon have 55,000 people in it. We chose not to be front row for a couple of reasons....1) we didn't want to get jammed up against the barrier, and 2) more importantly the stage was set up quite high and it would've meant looking up all night and a sore neck the next day. We stood about 12 rows back which was perfect viewing.

The band was good but not great. Unfortunately I never saw them at their peak (the '75 tour and before). Plant was fine but Page was quite sloppy the first half of the show. He got better in the 2nd half when the drugs either wore off or kicked in (I saw him in '98 with Plant after he got sober and he absolutely tore the place apart, a HUNDRED times better than with Zep in '77). Jones was as always his professionally excellent self but Bonzo was sloppy too. It's great to say you saw Led Zeppelin, but I've seen any number of bands that performed better. Really a shame I didn't see them in like '73 or so.
