What really stood out for me watching his highlights is how patient he is behind his blocks and as soon as the crease opens BOOM! He's 0-60 in two steps.

UCLA was running a lot of wide zone too, just like us.

Also liked how he finished runs. Only saw one guy blow him up.

I understand why people would be thinking it's an odd pick, but imagine if Walker goes down for a bit this season, like seems to happen to Seahawks RBs every year.

Who you got to fill that hole?

Good pick. Plus he offers a lot more than just a capable backup to Walker.

For sure! This guy will split time with Walker, IMO. He will not be a backseat to anyone. More a Carson type but faster and with better move. Terrific two feet sidestep move that leaves defenders trying to tackle air. He is a top shelf runner who can catch it and looks forward to volunteering for special teams. What's not to like? Getting a guy like this at 50 is a steal. However, we pay the price by not getting more help on the LOS.

Arian Foster comp in OP's video is pretty fair from what I remember of him. That guy was pretty good.

Agreed. If everything pans out with their picks, they’re looking rough.

But, I have a feeling Jalen Carter is going to get arrested for drag racing on an ATV in front of a daycare while being completely butt naked.
I wish him the best but have a feeling he'll go off the rails and be out of the league in 4 years after 3 teams .
He'll be sitting in an anonymous Applebee's hoping someone will recognize him and buy him a corona
And a half price nachos for happy hour.

Charbonnet was one of my favorite RB prospects this year just like Walker was last year. Complementary players and the injury risk is lower if we spread the carries around and have a deep group.

The value is good at #52. He'll have a $1.28m cap hit which he should easily outplay despite sharing carries.

We do still need a third down back to compete with Dallas, perhaps at #154.
Charbonnet is a good route runner, great catch radius, and is about as good as I've seen picking up blitzes. I think he'll be the power back and the 3rd down back.

More like a Robert Griffin III Scenario :p

Next time we play the Broncos, Pete can walk out all of the players that we got via Russ for the coin toss. =-/

I'm not completely convinced Russell Wilson will still be an NFL starting QB the next time the Seahawks play the Broncos, and I'm starting to think it's unlikely he'll be the Broncos' starter by that time.

The next time the NFC West plays the AFC West is 2026. The Broncos can get out of the Wilson contract with "only" $31.2M of dead cap in 2026 (before the 2026 season), and if they do it after June 1, they'll only have $18.4M in 2026 dead cap (and I think another $12.8M in 2027 dead cap). They'd gain $27.2M in 2026 cap space by cutting Wilson before June 1 of 2026 and $40M in 2026 cap space by cutting him after June 1 of 2026.

There's been talk of the Broncos "ripping the Band-aid off" earlier. 2024 is the first year when they can get some extra cap room by cutting Wilson after June 1, and 2025 is when they start getting cap savings even by cutting him before June 1. So the Broncos will have had multiple opportunities to save cap space by cutting Wilson before the Seahawks and Broncos are likely to face each other again. Wilson doesn't have to be even nearly as bad as he was in 2022 for him not to be worth his cap hits for the Broncos.

Looks like he is slightly above average at a lot of things but great at nothing. Not the type I would spend a second round pick on especially with what was on the board still. First pick I was disappointed with.

Mediocre

Charbonnet finished the season with 1,359 yards rushing and 14 touchdowns, while catching 37 passes for 321 yards.[18] He was named a first-team All-American as an all-purpose specialist by the Football Writers Association of America.[19] He led the nation with 168 all-purpose yards per game. His 1,680 all-purpose yards were the eighth-highest single-season total in UCLA history.

I think he's better than many draft pundits are giving him credit for, although he was drafted right where the consensus big board said he would be.

We'll see.

Charbonnet seems like a solid player who will contribute right away. As for value, he was taken right around where people thought he'd be taken. He wasn't going to be around at pick 83, that's for sure. The cupboard was pretty bare as far as RBs were concerned, so we might as get a good one, instead of drafting a project in the seventh round.

After spending the past 20-ish minutes looking at various 2023 NFL Draft RB rankings, most had Charbonnet as the 3rd best RB in the draft, a couple had him as the 2nd best, and I only found 1 that had him as the 4th best. Similarly, the consensus seemed to be that #50 is right about where he would be picked.

They basically all had similar versions of the following,

"Bottom Line: With all due respect to the aforementioned (Bijon) Robinson, after excelling in two vastly different NFL schemes, Charbonnet enters the draft process as arguably the most proven back in the class. Offering a prototypical combination of size, speed and power, Charbonnet is a top-50 candidate and looks like a future NFL workhorse.

Grade: Top 50"

Really excited about this pick. If you any PAC 12 ball you’ll know who Charbonnet is. I think he dropped 200 on Utah’s D
