What has he done to make you want to keep him on the team...?

IMHO it is not that simple. We are changing OL coach and OC. Players that may not have produced last year should be tested out to see what they can do in this system. I don't feel "right" complaining about everything from last year and blaming the coach and then not letting the players basically start with a blank slate. If he can recover timely from the injury we should see if the potential that led to him being drafted is there to play

IR doesn’t open up for non-veterans until the season starts. To be eligible for that he would have to waived with an injury designation or go on the 53-man roster first, which means losing a spot.

NFL doesn’t want teams to stash non-veterans on IR before the 53-man cutdown.

Thank you - that explains why they always go with that approach for young guys. Never thought of it

How many seasons do you have to play to be considered a veteran? Darboh isn’t still considered a rookie is he?

The correct term is “vested veteran,” which requires four accrued years of service. Everyone else has to go through the waiver process. Darboh has one accrued year.

Carroll said Darboh may be healthy enough to play in the final preseason game.

“Hopefully next week is a good shot for him. He has missed some really valuable time, so he's got to make the most of next week."

The last Pre-season game against Oakland is a "farce". Russ may play a quarter at most. Usually, it is play as many rookies as we can......and then watch their names on the "cut list" on Friday night.
If there is a game that Pete wants to win, it is this 3rd game. He will "push" players. We may even see some "razzle dazzle".

IIRC, Golden Tate didn't do much of anything his first two years. NFL Wide Receiver seems to have a two-year learning curve. With notable exceptions like Doug Baldwin, who excelled as a rookie.

No point in giving up on Darboh yet.
