The Seahawks courted Marshall previously early in the Carroll tenure before Seattle picked up Sidney Rice.

Marshall could have gotten a ring if he had signed with Seattle at that time.

I would pass now. Marshall was the man. But now an old man and is over the hill done, 3 years ago, ish!

Marshall's main knock is the dropped passes; don't forget Jimmy dropped a hell of a lot more than Marshall at a $10M cap hit, and he couldn't block.

If Marshall can come in and block, make some high point red zone catches, I'd say a deal at the vet minimum makes sense for both.

I'm all for it... at the right price. Dude can hi-point the ball in the Red Zone and is a blocking monster. At this point of his career I think he'd actually be good for the team chemistry as well. As long as he and Doug get along, it would be all good.

I don't see anything in it for Marshall.

At 34 he's looking for a paycheck or a title. Neither are likely in Seattle this year.

I don't see much in it for the Seahawks.

We've been working all off-season to get younger/leaner/faster/hungrier with emphasis on buy-in to the Carroll Plan. Marshall displaces an up-and-coming player with future upside for a stop-gap with no future.

I don't like your energy! Anything is possible with a run game , clock control, home field advantage, and P/A off of a run game.

If he's too expensive then we don't sign him. If we do sign him and he isn't one of our best five receivers in training camp then we release him. Where's the downside?

Have you guys looked at our WR depth chart? Let's be honest, we could use some help. If he's not good enough to make our corps (yeah right), just cut him.

Jaron Brown makes our receiving group the best in the league. No need to add Marshall

Can I just copy and paste this comment into the "Things That Are Funny" thread in the shack?

This. I'd say the chances of him being more than a red-zone specialist are slim and we need to stop acting like that is a need. I'm honestly baffled by the widespread desire for a RZ receiving specialist; it's an incredibly overvalued role and often costs way more on the field than it's worth.

I would give him a try. With Jimmy gone, he could be a red zone specialist.

This is the guy that has some mental issue?
@34 and coming off some injury,I think he's probaly done.
We need hungry young guys and can probaly fiind a tall RZ guy
who is cheaper and has more upside.

Bigger and more physical receivers........we need more. I think we are already better as an offense. People are writing us off. I dont think that that will be the case. Jaron and Dickson.....two upgrades.

If cheap, get him, sure, I don't see a negative here. 1 year deal, incentive based, cant go wrong. I have no idea why people instantly dismiss a veteran coming in for cheap. Kevin Williams was like 50 when he signed for us, and he was a great depth guy. Brandon knows we aint gonna pay him, so hes clearly willing to come in on a discount and actually finally play for a team that doesnt suck

Pass. Not interested. Past his prime.

This ^^^

We have a bad record with has been WR's and Marshall will not get enough separation for Russell to "take the chance" squeezing into tight windows. Fail waiting to happen IMO.

Jimmy didn't get much separation on his 10 touchdown catches last season. If Marshall is actually red zone target replacement at a fraction of the cost, it's not a bad option.
Besides we have Jaron Brown. This guy is fast as hell. He COULD be the torch we need the stretch defenses.
