I have to see the $$ but a guard signed for 8 mil per year earlier today. Cant remember who it was, but when I heard that I thought keeping Sweezy will be a long shot. Then I hear multiple teams were interested in Sweezy and I knew we weren't getting him back. To hear that 12 teams were interested in his services makes me think Sweezy is a MUCH better guard than a lot are giving him credit for on here. RW himself thought Sweezy was a HoF calibur player. We better hope we get Okung signed because there is no way we are going into the season not protecting our 20 million dollar man. If guards are making 8 mil, Okung is in line for at least 12 mil. It's going to be a tough pill to swallow.

Sweezy was average at best. Nowhere close to being a HOF. Where did you see Wilson saying that Sweezy was HOF caliber? HOF don't get knocked down on their arses on a consistent basis.

Signed,
Walter Jones

If the team was serious about keeping him, they would have locked him up before free agency like every other player not named Michael Bennett.

Instead, they drafted his replacement and spent the whole year training him at right guard.

Disagree with Danny, they are.

Glowinski is a technician.

*EDIT* [at above post] Good Point hawknation2016. The players you really want to keep you lock up when 1 year is remaining. You don't let them hit FA.

This really sucks. Sweezy is one of the toughest SOBs in the league. The few technique errors he made a game were greatly outweighed by the many positives he brought to his game. The offense became a bit softer today.

Maybe for the salary he was making, you could feebly argue this was the case.

Sweezy was a stud. He did a lot of small things that most fans don't value/see as much as they will judge a single bad block. His league interest speaks tells the tale.

Ain't that the truth. It is weird how so many fans hate on offensive linemen.

It's because they only focus on failures in Pass protection and ignore success in Run blocking.

Really? The run blocking that had Marshawn Lynch with the least yards before contact in the NFL? Rushers in the backfield as he's being handed the ball...

Then the crazy penalties, leaping on a pile after the play is over. Blowing a blocking assignment and getting our QB killed.

Not happy with our Oline, and haven't been, Cable takes responsibility for that.

Glow has played, what, one game?

Not enough tape at the pro level to say either way.

Who needs film or stats or facts of any kind? Knowledge < a vapid generalization about what a lineman CAN'T do. All you really need is a keyboard and a tube of vaseline.

He was not a stud. He was singularly interesting as an athlete project who could get into the 2nd level if everything went right . The rest of the nfl has a bunch of awful teams with money to spend on preswing needs, TB included.

A stud who is objectively bad at pass blockng, nah.

Fixed that for you.

My point is Sweezy's league interest has more to do with supply & demand.

Glowinski is locked in for the next 3 years @700K. The Seahawks are smart.

Position theory asserts that an offensive line is only a good as it's weakest member. So... the same habitual critics will move on to a debate about who should be singled out and declared the weak link or links of 2016. That mob action has been a tradition since the 1970s. That is just the way it is.

Go look how many unnecessary roughness penalties Sweezy actually accumulated. The narrative doesn't match the stats. And you brought up pass protection again. Sweezy is a damn good run blocker. Check the film.

Look up Enyeart's background as a coach. He knows what he's talking about.

Sweezy wasn't the weakest link though. The fact he wasn't just illustrates how bad the line was overall

You glossed over the points I was trying to make so that you could repeat your schtick from previous posts. Here's the info:

Seattle Seahawks RB Marshawn Lynch is averaging 1.6 yards before contact, which ranks 47th of 50 running backs, according to ESPN Stats and Information.

Yea, that's GREAT run blocking.
