The franchise QB and runningbacks were injured most of the season as a result of this shitty line, wich has been shit the past 2 years and is only getting worse. And he goes and says this nonsense. Im done. He is way too stubborn. If they dont invest in an oline i want pete gone.

I really hope he is just bluffing not to tip his hand.

I agree. Why show your cards before you have to?

It's January 16. What is he going to do?

"You know what Salk, I'd love to trade a 1st rounder for Joe Thomas right now!"

And there's actually an element of truth to Pete saying the line should be improved by having some continuity. Fant especially could make a massive leap next year.

I hope we address RT and add a veteran backup that can fill in for an injury or if Fant doesn't make that leap.. but Glow-Britt-Ifedi looks very solid going forward.

Just listened to the Pete Carroll final press conference a second time - and to the OP, I REALLY do not think Pete said that.

He said that continuity is a major factor in the failed OL last two years. He said that if we went into next season with the same crew, he would expect major improvement, and the team would benefit with continuity, but prefaced this with saying we still had the draft and FA. He also said that spending money for the sake of spending money is not an instant solution.

I cannot find anywhere where he said we do not NEED an upgrade at OL.....seems like they clearly will work to put the best team on the field......but I do not expect any major and massive personnel changes.

Are people just looking for things to be upset about?

Everything I have read tells me Pete is completely ok with the OLine we have and I find that troubling. This FO has cut players for minor things yet they are ok with the train wrecks we have at the Tackle position?

So continuity with the OLine is now an issue all of a sudden? Hasn't been the past 7 years. "He also said that spending money for the sake of spending money is not an instant solution." Total non sequitur. Paying for one or two quality linemen is not spending money just for the sake of spending money. Vintage Pete, all is great, all is good nothing to see here....1st day of free agency, Oline, 1st day of the draft, Oline....

at which point we'll hear, we still believe our guys will be better this year but we added more competition

really where else is a need outside secondary and a possibly a space eater inside that can help the pass rush guys...everything else is just a bonus luxury add so nothing to get worked up about here.

Agree.

There are 3 options:

1) Guys we have get better
2) We draft OL
3) We bring in OL FAs
Unless we trade, then what are we going to give up?

None of those is a guarantee. Each comes with it's problems and price.

The only logical solution is to analyze the options and take the best as it appears at that time. I didn't hear anything in Pete's comments that rule out any options.

Perhaps Pete is just keeping things close to the vest and not wishing to reveal any of his real plans. However, if he is not and truly believes our line is just fine then he is slowly becoming the Emperor in New Clothes-walking around aimlessly in a world of his own, completely oblivious to reality.

good god, if Pete was 100% on the level with everything he's said in the last couple days...our oline isn't changing our offense isn't changing, our coordinators aren't changing and somehow we're supposed to be drastically better....maybe senility has finally hit Pete. The stress of the season broke him lol Petes a master troll, he and JS have a plan and they'll reveal it on their own time frame.

I wouldn't be at all surprised if Pete believes his own nonsense. I've seen nothing from him the past few years to indicate it is within his ability to fix the issue. He thinks cables zbs is magic and ignores that the line has steadily worsened the further away we have gotten from the players selected by the previous regime.
There have been coaches who constructed effective lines from nothing. Pete is under the delusion that cable is one of those coaches and its indefensible to me at this point.

What is this year's FA class of linemen look like? I have heard that this is a weak draft class for them, so I hope we can land some quality via FA.

I'ts 2 days after the season ended. I'm pretty sure that seeing the number 32 next to his O-Lines NFL performance rankings will change things going forward. Honestly though, these guys should be better with a whole year plus 2 playoff games going forward.

I mean, I know he's going to spout some canned responses two days after the season ended, but I would have much preferred the one that goes, "We're going to look at every option, leave no stone unturned."

This is not inspiring.

Pete is not going to talk badly about the players he had on the team this year to the media. He's just not.

I think we'll see an O-lineman drafted in round 1 or 2 again, and they will certainly bring in a couple through free agency. You guys really think they will completely ignore the Offensive line this offseason? They are aware that we need more depth there. It will not be a blue-chip free agent brought in, but they will address the position competition and add depth.

With more cap room than usual to work with in the 2017 offseason, the Seahawks were expected to make a long-overdue investment in their blockers, but their head coach has other plans.

"This group has a chance to be really solid as they grow," Carroll told 710 ESPN radio, according to ESPN's Sheil Kapadia.

Kapadia tweeted that everything Carroll said in the interview suggests that the Seahawks are relying on the current offensive linemen to improve and produce rather than making personnel changes.

If he truly believes this then he is senile and it's time for his children to place him in a home....
