NO, he didn't want to lose. That's silly.

He just isn't at the top of his game coaching-wise and hasn't been for some time.

The team is older, beat up, and the in-fighting unusually high even by Seahawk standards.

Offense continues to suck. Defense shows flashes but too hurt/tired to be more consistent.

It's exactly what it was warned it would be last season.

Time to rebuild...

This has actually become a fun drinking game

Dunno if anyone plays the APBA football simulation here, but I would hate to see Blair Witch's... I mean Blair WALSH's card if I were "coaching" the 2017 Seahawks team! I remember when my friend was playing as 49ers "coach" when Mike Cofer was their kicker, and I recall he had pretty decent 4th down conversions, electing NOT to have Cofer kick unless he was in VERY short FG range.

Please, let us punt Walsh, deep into Elliott Bay...

I think he used the tools he had to win it. He ran the clock down, gave Walsh a decent location and Walsh blew it.

Pete never wants to lose. I'm sure he wanted to beat Arians. But the loss didn't matter.

It matters not. We weren't going anywhere in post season.

give me a logical reason why you put the game on blair walsh?
There is no logical reason. Maybe to make him feel good and go out on top? But that's a stretch.

It's pretty cruel to put a head case out near his limit to kick a game winning field goal in front of a home crowd who doesn't really like you and it's pretty much a sure thing that this is your last kick in the NFL.

It's hard to hate on him. He did what everyone, except Pete and John, expected. He definitely tried, you can't blame him for that. He just lacked the natural talent, pretty much all of us do. It's bad for everyone all around. I'm sure he feels horrible and probably has had a shitty year. The Seahawks lost a handful of games that they shouldn't have. Pete and John look dumb, making it look more and more like their earlier success was just a fluke.

That was so bad it had to be on purpose

Pete new Atlanta won and tanked for draft picks. Pete needs to go
Come on you are blaming ANOTHER Blair Walsh misss on Pete???? Give me a break
I think the guy that kept Walsh around definitely should share the blame.

I blame all of Walsh's misses on Pete. That was my reaction to the initial signing of Walsh.

Because our play caller is Darrell Bevell getting in his own way, over and over and over again. He has no common sense.

If Walsh won it, we could have rewarded him by keeping him around for next year. Just imagine that !!!
Honestly, there was no incentive to win on a last minute kick. NONE.
OK. Maybe an extra $100 bonus on someone's paycheck?

This conservative strategy is why the Seahawks lost a lot of games.
And won some.

If Pete wanted to win he shouldn’t have settled on a shirt FG and kept trying to toss it not, run run run FG attempt.
Screw CarolCaBevell.

It was actually run, pass, run, FG. The clock stopping on the pass play was what ultimately led to them settling for the Fg as they had to kill clock to not give AZ time back on the clock for a chance to win.

Because we were out of time and downs, needed 3 points to win, and he was the kicker Pete choose to "always compete".

That is Pete's logic, not mine. Pete has shown he will ride his logic into the ground again and again.

What constitutes "on purpose" is going to be tough to prove here, but if the news from the Carolina - Falcon game was Carolina winning, I don't think we'd have settled to leave Blair Walsh a 48 yard FG to propel us to the playoffs. Walsh had proven he was likely to miss that kick from that range.

I also think there's a historical precedence. Pete's first year he played Charlie Whitehurst in a must win game at the end of the season when it was obvious the Seahawks weren't a bonafide playoff team. Hasselbeck was hurt, but not "can't play hurt". Hasselbeck was visibly pissed off on the sidelines during the game. We won the game anyway, but Hasselbeck was right back in there for the playoffs. Still, to today, I think Pete played Clipboard Jesus in that game to give us the best chance to lose.

For the record. I love Pete Carroll and don't want him replaced as HC at this time.
