Dontae Johnson to IR

It's a bit too brazen to me to start a guy at cornerback that's been a cornerback for about three months and two preseason games (worth of play).

Arrogant and risky, isn't it?

Sure .... that's one way to look at it.

I'm more incline to view it as confident and bold.

It's not the first choice. Injuries happen.

Deshawn Shead! Bring him in ASAP.

He was good here as a starter and he's definitely better than King. Maybe even Flowers, too. Flowers has a ton more potential though.
They aren't winning the SB this year so get the young guys feet wet.

If not considered serious, why IR?

Smacks of a last-minute personnel decision, honestly.

I've learned to listen to fans of other teams when their former players sign here. Dontae Johnson was one of the guys 49ers fans promised we'd regret signing. Cary Williams bad.

So maybe this was just a last-minute swerve of the wheel by Pete, to see if Tre had anything better to offer. They were high on him.

Either way, the CB2 position was a disaster the moment Byron Maxwell got injured.
