Always cringe when people compare their everyday jobs to those of athletes.

And I'm always flabbergasted by those that feel the simple obligation of us showing up for work is extraordinarily different from contracted athletes fulfilling the same such provisions that their employer requires.

Of course you do. I mean it's exactly nothing alike in terms of anything general employment but hey...

He will be treated like those in his profession. Not ours

Not supporting Earl here, just the process. If he's going to act like this then the Hawks need to trade him.

It's common in sports. It's not petulance or greed (more than the owners) . It's bargaining your services. Everyone in that industry is greedy as hell

Let’s make this short and easy — he doesn’t want to be here anymore, he wants more money, and he’s not all about the Seattle Seahawks.

Earl has been petty and if there are players like that STILL on our team, than get rid of him. He doesn’t want to be here and help us succeed. He’s putting himself over the teams success!

Ignore that noise. Either he plays hard and wants to help us succeed or he needs to leave. At least Jimmy Graham was a professional and left on a good note.

Would that money be added back to the cap or just reclaiming general funds?

Either way I fully support this, if he doesn't want to play, don't reward that behavior with pay. Bet he stops skipping practices then

Glad you agree. This team needs to get rid of the Percy Harvin type behavior. The hawks are better than that.

Of course we love Earl, we hate to see it go but we love to watch it leave. This team needs new blood and revamping this team is exactly what they need.

Earl to the Chiefs should make Belichick sweat a little. The Chiefs have some soiled ingredients and will be poised to exorcise their playoff demons. The problem is any pick from them will be late in any round.

Any player plus draft pick possibility with them?

Exactly. They will be picking very late. Almost gotta get a 1st from them, which would be like a high 2nd.

If we can get a 3rd or above they have to make that deal imo.

Seahawks would get a 3rd if he walked after the season, might as well keep him for just a different 3rd...

Agreed. Before the season started I was firmly on the "keep Earl" bandwagon, but since it's become obvious that this will be a lost season there's no reason left to not trade him.

Earl Thomas ready to go to war.

The only legit reason to turn down trade offers devoid of a first round pick is if they plan to franchise tag and/or re-sign him after this season.

We don’t know what the offers are though. It’s all assumptions.
But overall I agree with your point.

If that is the case why would he hold himself out of practice you talk to him then.

He wants the money and will create the drama till he gets it or is traded.

Could be wrong, but a 2nd round offer is what was reported:

He wants the money and will create the drama till he gets it or is traded.

Why? Most likely because he wants to protect himself from injury in his contract year, as he said he would do.

He hasn’t missed a game and has played tremendous football. That’s good enough for me. The only “drama” has been from fan/media speculation that he would miss games, which has not occurred.

He isn't doing his job, his job includes practice, people say there is a difference between us and them, when we have a job we are suppose to perform all of it not just come in on paydays, same with them unless excused for some reason. He is refusing to work, fine him and fine him big, it will cause more drama but at some point the Seahawks have to show who is the employer and who is the employee.

He did show up to practice, so he was still getting the mental reps and meeting work. He probably feels he knows the Cowboys offense well. No reason to risk a practice injury, in his mind.

If the team disagrees with his approach, then they should tell him he will be fined.

All I care about is him playing on Sunday and playing well.
