Really interesting. Shoot, Detroit and the Jets both added a ton of talent yesterday.

Interesting

Wouldn't the operative words be bought a lot of talent?

Acquired a lot of talent, added a lot of talent, signed a lot of talent, bought a lot of talent... what's the difference?

Free agency and the draft are the two primary ways NFL teams can acquire players.

Seems like you're trying to put some sort of negative spin on signing free agents?

No spin here. Just distinguishing between choosing where to play (all other things being equal) verses contracting to the highest bidder.

Good point. Apparently, such distinctions do not matter to some.

But others do make such distinctions.

Every free agent is free to sign with whomever they choose. If they don't want to play for the Lions or the Jets, they don't have to.

But yeah, most players are going to sign the biggest contract they can get regardless of the team. Football is a brutal game and the window for most players is relatively small. It's fine if a player decides they are willing to take less to play for a specific team, but arguably not too smart. None of these guys have any idea if they are ever going to get another contract.

Quite a few talented players out there reportedly not getting offers that they want. This should bode well for us when bargain shopping.

Indeed, and that is when the distinction of ranking preferences enters into the process of building a team.

I remember when Seattle was in the bottom five of that ranking.

Well if you look at who's signing for big dollars and where a lot of those players are compensating for the lesser desired location with the big contracts. Which really means were gonna suck but I am going to make bank till they cut me.

Hopefully that wasn't a personal attack.

Perhaps it is just the result of an incomplete reading of the thread.

I'll re post the overlooked response .............

Anal is another word for overly meticulous or particular. How could that possibly be a personal attack?

An authors choice of words does say something about their thoughts. But that isn't really the topic here. The subject is Free Agent Signings For 2019.

For me, seeing JR Sweezy only a couple times of year is a bit of a letdown. Hope to see a strong replacement.

Yes, and those words have definitive meanings. If someone is infamiiar with that meaning one could always look the words up and apply the meaning they understand.

Just be thankful you didn't say the front office is being niggardly with their free agent dollars :stirthepot:

I've yet to act on off topic posts.

And I would prefer for that to become unnecessary.

Please return to the subject topic.
