When Gus left we had the number one scoring defense in football and we didn't yet have Avril or Bennett. He can coach defense.

I'm also surprised he was given such a long leash.

Gus seemed like a great guy but I think Richard has a higher ceiling and has continued to get better. There is zero chance they demote him and bring someone else in. I think Richard is being looked at as the next Seahawks coach for whatever that's worth.

That sounds possible. Even if Pete stays 5 more years, Richard would still be younger than 45.
