The bantering about truth or lie between York and Haslam is nothing but a splitting of hairs, there would have been some type of compensation if talks were or had got serious, there was a inquiry about Harbaugh. Thats all that matters, York denied it and then had to cover his ass by saying it wasn't specifically this or that.

Harbaugh has the Sharks circleing because someone leaked or knows something, places do not make overtures to coaches under contract unless there is a smell of blood in the water, to have so many sharks cruiseing all in one season and then this story breaking one has to wonder about the 49ers future stability.

Not even close. As a secondary coach, Pete had known NFL chops. Carroll was also team president, plays the head role in personnel, helped select the GM, and had a pretty damn big contract already at his college.

Also, on point one. If they offered more in Miami, he should have taken that job. Or made San Fran offer more. Can't call him underpaid when he didn't have to take the offer.

Define crazy: Takes lower offer, then claims to be underpaid.

Just for the record...Carroll was also a DC in SF.

Have you heard of the 9ers offering Carroll the head coaching gig before? 'Twas news to me, if true.

Not sure if posted already, but... (saw somewhere else)

Things are not getting better behind the scenes for the San Francisco 49ers. There was a persistent rumble throughout the combine about the extent of the rift between coach Jim Harbaugh and the team's front office. It doesn't seem like it will go away, and there is increasing buzz that the team might have to decide between Harbaugh or GM Trent Baalke.

The men are barely speaking, I'm told, and almost all communication is through email. Harbaugh also has a strained relationship with team president Paraag Marathe, sources said, and he has clashed with many within the organization.

Now that we have two other 49er threads and this is going in circles, let's move to them.
