Made especially for the people who think the Seahawks have done absolutely nothing thus far.

Starting Cap: Approx. $2 million
Current Cap: Approx. $14 million

Re-signed: (9) 7 players + 1 tendered + 1 ERFA
Signed: (8) 4 players + 4 future contracts in Feb
Restructures: 1 player
Extensions: 0 (6-8 players eligible by my counts)
Un-Signed: 3 Players
Lost: 7 players
Cut: 3 players

FREE AGENTS RE-SIGNED:
OL Lemuel Jeanpierre (1 yr, $950,000, $200,000 grntd)
S- Jeron Johnson (1 yr, $2.187 m, all grntd)
DE Michael Bennett (4 yrs, $28.5 m, $10 m grntd)
TE Anthony McCoy (1 yr, $1.35 m, all grntd)
DT Tony McDaniel (2 yrs, $5.75 m, $1.25 m grntd)
QB Tarvaris Jackson (1 yr, $1.25 million, all grntd)
PK Steven Hauschka (3 yrs, $8.55 m, $3.35 m grntd)
WR Doug Baldwin (1 yr, 2.187m unsigned 2nd Round tender)
LB Mike Morgan (ERFA)

Bennett, Jeanpierre, McCoy, McDaniel, Jackson, and Hauschka are all great value signings compared to what some of their other counter parts got elsewhere.

FREE AGENTS SIGNED:
(Via Futures Contracts Not Including PS players)
WR Chris Matthews (2 yrs .94 m)
TE Travis Beckum (2 yrs, .93 m)
DB Terrance Parks (2yrs, .93 m)
LB Mike Taylor (3 yrs, 1.535 m)

(Via Free Agency)
OL Greg Van Roten (1 yr, $570,000)
WR Taylor Price (1 yr, $570,000)
OL Stephen Schilling (1 yr, $645,000)
CB Phillip Adams (1 yr,

I'm willing to bet 2-3 of these guys have enough talent to compete and make the roster. At least 1 guy always does.

RESTRUCTURE:
TE Zach Miller (saved $5 mil over 2 yrs)

POSSIBLE EXTENSIONS:
1) Richard Sherman (priority)
2) Earl Thomas (priority)
3) Doug Baldwin (strong possibility)
4) KJ Wright (maybe)
5) Russell Okung*
6) Cliff Avril*
7) Byron Maxwell (long-shot)
8) Malcolm Smith (long-shot)

* restructure type of extension that may lower their cap hits this year in exchange for a new signing bonus now.

FREE AGENTS UN-SIGNED:
TE Kellen Davis
FB Michael Robinson
LB O’Brien Schofield

Seahawks hypothetically could still re-sign all three but there isn't a need to.

FREE AGENTS LOST:
WR Golden Tate, Detroit (5 years, $31 m, $10.5 m grntd)
DT Clinton McDonald, Tampa Bay (4 yrs, $12 m, $4.75 m grntd)
S Chris Maragos, Philadelphia (3 yrs, $4.05 m, $1.5 m grntd)
OT Breno Giacomini, New York Jets (4 yrs, $18 m, $7 m grntd)
CB Brandon Browner, New England (3 yrs, $17 m, $1 m grntd)
OG Paul McQuistan, Cleveland (2 yrs, $3 m, $750,000 grntd )
CB Walter Thurmond, NYG (1 yr, $3.5 m, $2 m grntd)

PLAYERS CUT:
DE Chris Clemons (signed w/ Jax, 4 yrs, $17.5 m, $4.475 m grntd)
DT Red Bryant (signed w/ Jax, 4 yrs, $19 m, $5.255 m grntd)
WR Sidney Rice (unsigned)

For every player lost or cut, the Seahawks already had a potential replacement already on the roster. And as far as I know only Tate and Thurmond were the only players in the renegotiating process every one else was allowed to walk away, more or less, unabated.

Thanks for wasting your time. Unfortunately, those that would benefit most from reading it will not as cold hard facts tend to interfere w/ their purely emotional arguments.

EDIT: I just wanted to reiterate the thank you part as that sounded a bit brash toward the OP when I really did enjoy the info myself.

Aren't you the guy who compared the 49ers last drive in the NFCCG to The Fray's How to Save a Life?

See! Mike Bennett got $10m! :sarcasm_on: :sarcasm_off:

Nice post. Considering that we tentatively know where our draft pics fall and with the rookie salary 'fixing' in the new CBA, it would be interesting to see approx. where the cap room will sit post draft with all our draft picks signed. (Assuming we don't trade back, sign other players, etc.)

Kind of, I compared the song to the relationship of Crabtree and Sherman in that game from Crabtree's perspective.

Agreed. I reserve judgement until Tokadub prognosticates on this. He has proven to be the most educated and knowledgeable poster on .net.

Thanks for pulling that together.

The one thing that "surprises" me, I guess, is Mike Rob. Anybody think he'll be back? I suspect we might let him walk off into the sunset, which would give the Chris Michael fan club hope to see him more often. Then we'd have a more 'normal' 3RB/1FB backfield, rather than carrying 2FB. Which puts the onus on Ware to be prepared, I guess.

Just wondering if anybody had any clues.

Robinson is gone. He only came back due to the injuries to Ware/Coleman. Ware will be healthy this year and will fulfill that role going forward.

Too bad. MikeRob was a towering presence in the locker room. Hell, he earned his contract just for Super Bowl week.
Big shoes for Ware and Coleman.

I think we will see Earl Thomas extended fairly quickly as I think he is already a $5.5m cap hit this year. Sherman will be a big hit.

Not necessarily.

You could give Thomas and Sherman both 12.5 signing bonuses on 5yr extensions.

Thomas would pull in 18 mil in 2014 but cost 8 against the cap.

Sherman would pull in 14 mil in 2014 but cost 4 against the cap.

Altogether, though you wasted only $5 mil in 2014.

But from 2015-2019, you're looking at a 10 per average for Thomas and a 12 per average for Sherman. Maybe to qualm both their egos for play-maker money though they both take $11 per and call it a win.
