It is positional, secondary players are usually good till the hit 30's to 32, then the speed starts to decline typically, D line and O line can play very well into their mid to later thirties without a drop off depending on health of injuries. RB's like DB's they lose that quick twitch and speed ability, WR's really depends on what type, deep threats often can become possession guys, and extend a career, if they can learn to run routes and get separation with contact, possession guys who never used speed but routes and technique can have a long career.

Again previous injury history have a lot to do with if a player can contribute later in his career, anyone that has had a serious injury knows that you can recover but later on you have telltale signs of it acting up, stiffness aching etc.

This whole myth about him having an off year is just that, a myth. People looking for reasons to bash him because of something not football related.
