The team needed Wilson, Wilson said he thought he was ready. However, it became apparent his lack of reps was showing in his play. Should Carroll have sat him down, or have him play through?

We know his answer and perhaps it was made by agreement between Wilson and himself, we don’t know but what we do know is Wilson had a few bad games yet seemed to improve on Sunday.

It’s easy to throw rocks at either of them but without knowing the whole story I suspect much of our thinking about blame is speculation based upon bias.

To me the real problem with the team has been the D which is allowing opposing units to chew up the clock as our D can’t get off the field. Against the Digits the team had answers on D and the difference in TOP finally advantaged the team. A reversion tho average or even TOP would make a huge difference in outcome of games.

It was an encouraging improvement if not concerning at the end , but an improvement.

It it wasn't for Butterfingers Everett, they win going away. That was a blast.
Everett turned in one of the worst games you can possibly have as a pro. I wonder if he partied the night before

It's one thing to have turnovers. It's quite another to drop a perfect pass that cost your team an easy TD. Along with two other fumbles where it doesn't like like ball security is even a priority. Wrap up with 2 hands and protect the damn football. Like the song says "you make it harder than it has to be"

We knew all along. Didn't need snake oil salesman Pete to confirm it.

People here SHOULD have known all along but they didnt. They would rather blame Russ for drug use, not caring, too selfish, blame Pete , the league figured him out, or any of the other garbage that gets thrown out here.

The guy is hurt. He played well enough to win the first 5 weeks of the season. He just didnt lose all his talent.

This is on the FO. They thought they could go with someone like Geno when that made no sense.

We cannot win when Geno has a good game, unless we play the Jags or Jets. And Geno is inconsistent, he doesn't even always have a good game.

Like it or not, we had to run with Wilson - because even an injured Wilson gave us a better chance to win than a healthy Geno. Still pretty irritated that we never picked up Minshew, he would have at least drove the bus for us until Wilson came back healthy but whatever.

Wilson wins because he is mobile and accurate. And because he can do both of those at once.

Of course, while injured he was going to lose accuracy! And that was his whole thing, he wasn't some great tactician or great at looking off safeties, etc. He was good at seeing where the defender is and putting the ball where his player will get to it despite the defender. You lose accuracy then you lose everything.

So of course, the narrative started to spin that Wilson was some incompetent moron, that he was like the unholy offspring of Jeff Blake and Rex Grossman, that he could only throw deep. Completely ridiculous.

If we had run Geno out there, we would have lost anyway - Wilson did what he could, but not being close to 100% it was not enough.

Nah Wilson doesn't get off that easily. His tendencies were on full display well before the finger injury.

And if Russ gets credit for Sunday, then Pete gets credit. He dumbed down the offense recently. Besides that first quarter, it finally looked like a functioning offense.

Maybe Waldron’s offense was too complex for the players to execute?

This isn't a competition about who is more lame Carroll or Wilson... This should be an objective conversation about the issues of the team and what they need to do to fix those issues to move forward.

I give up... this conversation is meaningless other than throwing crap around in a pissing contest....

If the purpose of the conversation is to do an objective analysis of the circumstance and look at best pathways to success moving forward?
(which does not jibe with the title of the thread...since it seemed to be more a thread about how it turned out that maybe the problems Wilson experienced were due to his still being hurt, and not just falling off a cliff in skills/ability suddenly)

Then it makes sense to identify the problems, especially the root problems.

Fixing the issues with Wilson is like trying to solve a root problem by shearing off the leaves.

Wilson has issues, or more accurately strengths and weaknesses. But is he the issue? Or is it poor decisioning by the FO and inconsistent tactics/strategy assessment while building the roster?

Wilson is not the biggest problem right now.

But he is our biggest and most important competitive advantage. Realistically the only thing keeping up from becoming the Lions or Jets right now.

Your not giving credit where credit is due... this is a giant pissing contest of ego's... not a subjective conversation of intelect
