That's not correct.

Munoz has 2 blown saves in the past 2 weeks. This past Wednesday against the White Sox, and just about 2 weeks ago against KC.

Yeah, I'm good with the trade now. What I wasn't good with was Servais pulling The Rock when he was at 95 pitches, was still throwing smoke and had given up ONE hit. Can't see any reason to not let him pitch the 8th.
Lucky for him that we got good Munoz. He was filthy yesterday.

Castillo needs to 5 more turns this season, not to mention hopefully some work in the off season. I have no problem pulling him at less than 100 pitches. Every inning counts. Yeah, the bullpen almost blew it, but they didn't.

I respectfully disagree. And I know I'm not the only one. He was in a zone and had another inning in him. Just my own opinion.
I mean, come on. 95 pitches, still throwing gas, gave up ONE hit? He can go longer.

Yeah the pitch count thing for mlb pitchers irks me at times. RJ would go 150 pitches sometimes and he pitched for 20+ years.
It irks me still..They try to brag up today's players as being in supreme
condition,bigger,stronger and better.
I haven't seen much of that at all..I see more injuries than I ever used to
to all position players.
Can you imagine Nolan Ryan(Not even a prime version) being asked to come
in the 6th or 7th?
He'd have to be forced to do it somehow..Good luck with that.

Take a look at Sachel Paige. He pitched double headers regularly. In fact, he pitched over 160 games in a row......in 3 consecutive seasons.
Nolan Ryan AVERAGED 109 pitches per game for his entire career. In the 70's, he had a game where he struck out 19 and threw 235 pitches over 13 innings.
Randy Johnson threw 160 pitches vs. the Rangers in a game, struck out 18 guys.

Dayum
I know it's a different game these days, but it's shocking how different it is now with pitch counts.

These are different batters, and just like there will never be another Marshawn Lynch, there will never be another pitcher like Randy Johnson. Look at how many pitchers get injured now throwing at the speed they throw. Are you willing to risk our Ace's health for the playoffs over a game against the A's?

IIRC, Castillo struggled early in his career with injuries, and injured his shoulder spring of 2022. I think Servais makes good calls, and is projecting out weeks and months in advance to protect his pitchers.

We've already lost too many pitchers this year, can not afford to lose another over a single game.

Pitching a few more batters? He's a starting pitcher, can't coddle them 24/7. He only threw 95 pitches. He could have went longer.
