Talk about two "gritty" players...

I'll post about the less obvious one, at a position of need for the Hawks.

1. Kyle Friend - Center / Guard
Has anyone taken a look at this guy or know anything more? He's currently rated a late round prospect. Just where the Seahawks like to find these type guys! He's a leader and the type of player coaches love.

STRENGTHS: Four-year starter. Sticky blocker with quick snap-and-step motion, driving his feet and always looking for someone to hit. Loves to finish, showing hustle at the second level to seal and wall-off run lanes.
Teammate LB Tyler Matakevich told NFLDraftScout.com that Friend "can put up 225 pounds on the bench more than anyone I've ever met."
WEAKNESSES: Might not test well due to average physical traits, but he makes up for his shortcomings with grit, toughness and a perceptive understanding of his strengths. He has shorter arms and his aggressive demeanor causes him to lunge and lose balance.

He was injured this year (knee - everyone who plays football gets injured). But, he had a long streak of consecutive games before he had to miss a couple of games and played through injury.

vs. Notre Dame
Friend was slow to get up after running back Jahad Thomas ran for no gain.
The senior was able to walk off the field and came back out for the next series. Friend finished the game for No. 23 Temple (7-1) despite his coach's attempts to take him out.
"Kyle is absolutely amazing," Rhule said. "I said, 'Hey, you can't go?' And he just kept playing, kept saying, 'It's not that bad. And then you find out (Tuesday) it's an injury for a while."
For Friend, his streak of 41 straight starts, which was the longest on the team, and 43 consecutive games played will be snapped Friday night.
Rhule did not disclose Friend's injury, but did say it's likely he'll be out a couple of games.
"We don't really know how long because each guy heals differently," Rhule said. "But Kyle's toughness, his passion, it's inspiring. He was in here last night.
"The coaches, we draw up every run and every pass. We're here really late and he came in (Monday) night. He just wants to be a part of the team.
"He actually drew up all the protections for me, which was nice," Rhule continued. "I got a little break last night. But that's just the kind of guy he is. He was out here coaching today. He's special."

"Freaks List" ???? (hadn't heard of this before, but okay...)
" ...identifying the freakiest athletes in college football -- basically the guy in the program who can wow his coaches and teammates."

" ...benched 225 pounds 46 times and also ran the 40 in 4.95 seconds"

2. Tyler Matakevich, ILB - Not a position of need, but who cares. This guy is a player. Get him and get him on the field somewhere!
2-3 round prospect?
