He actually may prolong his career by taking fewer snaps in Seattle's defensive scheme.

And the players all said they saw the benefit of sharing snaps when they got to the playoffs. They were all way more fresh and healthy at the end of the year.

Not sure why any of them would suddenly demand to play more snaps, especially if it made no difference on their salary.

Since we're talking about snaps, here's a list of defensive snaps by our DL last year (ST snaps are not included):

1. Bennett 569
2. Clemons 532
3. Avril 521
4. Mebane 509
5. McDaniel 500
6. McDonald 497
7. Bryant 460

By comparison, Clemons in 2012 racked up 859 defensive snaps.

Clemons played 98% of the snaps in his previous two years before 2012. I can't help but believe that degree of snap participation on the defensive line is in decline. Rotating 8 defensive linemen has so many advantages. A competent coaching staff can produce so much better results.

Interesting that BI had 8 sacks in 434 defensive snaps in 2012.

One bad game in a totally new position with no other credible pass rushing threat marred a whole rookie season.

Good competitive players will always want to play more. It is up to the coaches to monitor their snaps and energy level and control it. By doing so, they keep the players fresh in-game for the 4th quarter, and in-season for the stretch run and playoffs.

It's a mutual trust thing. The coaches trust the players to give 100% on every down, and the players trust the coaches to maintain the balance between maximum playing time and maintaining stamina.

@AdamSchefter: And now, as @ProFootballTalk reported, Seattle's deal with DE Michael Bennett is done. Expect it to be four years, about $34 million.
