Reports: Seahawks trade for CB John Reid, bring back TE Luke Willson

Looks like an "okay" DB. Seems like people look at him as a Slot Corner.

But...he showed well at the Combine!

Reid finished first among cornerbacks in the 20-yard shuttle, fifth in the broad jump, sixth in the three-cone drill and tied for eighth in the vertical jump. He also ran a respectable 4.49 40-yard dash.

Position coach at Penn State, Terry Smith:

“John Reid has the best feet in the draft of any corner out there,” Smith said on a recent conference call. “John Reid is smarter than anybody out there. John Reid is going to work extremely hard.”

AND:

In its draft analysis, NFL.com put a sixth-round grade on Reid, a redshirt senior who is projected to play the slot in the NFL.

Too low, Jeremiah said.

“He’s a top 100 player for me,” said Jeremiah, indicating an early fourth-round grade. “He’s my 99th guy. He has production. He’s another one with the versatility to play inside and out. He’s going to be a really good nickel player.”

Reminds me of the Justin Coleman trade back in the day.

Forget about Parry Nickerson.

He should add to the competition, at least.
He played 32 snaps in the first game last year, then got buried on the depth chart?
Knowing the relative dumpster fire in Houston, they may not have known what they had.

Hmm… You would think out of Amadi, Blair, and now Reid, one of 'em would have to go to the outside. It also confirms what we've seen, Witherspoon has been a disaster, and Tre Flower is… Tre Flowers.

For sure. The Seahawks clearly coveted him in the draft that year. They also coveted DJ Reed as soon as the 49ers put him on waivers they snatched him up immediately. Maybe JS pilfered another one.

It's a conditional 7th, so they likely just brought him in for a look. If he manages to beat someone out of a roster spot it'll be a bonus.

Chances are he gets released, the Hawks get the 7th rounder back, and he's signed to the practice squad.

They seem to be more more focused on change of direction as of late. Sticky players that can provide tighter coverage. We could see a continuation of the 2020 man coverage mixed in with zone.

Been thinking the same thing. The big, long corners worked when you could really press up and jam wr's at the line. Not so much when you're playing off man or zone. Quicker, faster twitch guys fit that profile better. God knows opposing offenses have made a living off of hitting wr's in stride between our man /zones with our corners at best in hot pursuit.

sounds like a guy they wanted and had on their board. Kept tabs on him and when he looked available they jumped. sounds like the type of guy they turn into a good CB.

Have not done much of that since Richard left.

Took and edited to make my point.
