Oh and for the record Russ threw over the middle multiple times yesterday. Something QBs generally avoid (based on Nextgen passing charts) to avoid turnovers. Man, those stubborn narratives you’re all holding on to lol

Everyone arguing that the offense is hurting the D. Maybe its the other way around? How is the offense supposed to get on track when the d is giving up 10 minute drives all the time? How about getting the other team off the field once in a while? How about creating a turnover and giving the offense some good field position for once?
We are paying some players on D some real big money. How about they make a play every once in a while? It isn't the offenses fault the D cannot make a single stop ever.
The offense had long drives in the first half and all that time sitting on the bench didn't help the D one iota. Time of possession excuses are just that excuses for a piss poor defense led by a piss poor D coordintaor who has shown he is not capable of the job he has held for quite some time now.

It's both. They are both hurting each other. Yes, this D sucks huge amounts of ass and is doing the O no favors, but even if they didn't, we're probably not winning many games if the O scores 17 points and then disappears for the final two thirds of a game.

Actually pretty impressed with that offensive ranking considering that the offense hasn't done jack $h!t in the 2nd half of 2 of the 3 games they've played so far. Sure would like to see the offense show up for 4 quarters, though because they seem to disappear at half time.

Honest question, not trying to troll.

Would you say every offense has about one or two throwaway drives to get into rhythm. For even the best offenses?

It would appear not. Sure didn't look like we needed one or two throw away drives to get into rhythm at the beginning of the game before disappearing for the final 40 minutes.

If so, would you not say an offense that only gets 2 drives in the 2nd half, 3 if you’re lucky, is being put in a “save us” position?

It's undoubtedly more difficult for an offense to do anything with so few opportunities, but it sure would be nice if they could at least muster something resembling a sustained drive, or heaven forbid, maybe even score. The Vikings offense had 4 drives in the 2nd half yesterday. They kicked 3 field goals and punted the ball once. We also had 4 drives in the second half. We did basically nothing but give the ball right back to the Vikings.

By the end of the year we will say “the offense finally figured out the 2nd half of games.” While completely ignoring the fact that the offense is literally getting more drives to work with because the defense improved.

Look, like I've said, the D is obviously a much bigger problem than the O right now. It's a raging dumpster fire. However, the offense is also a problem. You can't score 17 points and then pack it in and call it a night when there's still 40 minutes left in the game.

Apparently the hawks show the same defensive coverage in 92% of their plays, more than 30% more than the next closest team.

Basically we disguise nothing. Everyone in the league is playing chess and Pete Carroll is insisting on playing checkers.

I don't see the logic about our offense not getting the ball enough. We have the same number of drives that our opponents do. The question is how efficient we can be with what we have, and there's a very stark difference between our early game offense and our late game offense. It's still a new offense with a new play caller, so a lot of that could well just be growing pains.

Well while we may have the same number of drivers persey when 1 drive comes with 29 seconds till half that's not really a drive is it. Also for example last game we got the ball with 16 seconds till half, that after minny had the ball for 4 minutes. Then we had half time and minny got the ball first and took a 9 minute drives. So pretty hard when u basically get the ball for l6 seconds out of 13 minutes. Hard to get a rhythm. Also hard when u see the ball once in a qtr and only after the other team had a long drive.

You know who's 31? The WFT.

They've started out of sync as well and aren't as bad as they seem to be. They were picked to be a top 5 defense before the season. Gotta think they'll get better and hope that we will too. It's early yet.

Meaningless stats. You don't win the game by getting the most yards. :34853_doh:

Racked up all kinds of yards, but invariably stalled in the points department.

Points. Per. Game. The only stats that matter.

But Pete is a Defensive Guru. There was little to no change in the off-season, so why are we waiting for it to gel?

And absolutely the offense is effected by the defensive lack of execution, playing from behind, field position, getting out of rhythm because the defense can't get off the field.

All very obvious. To me at least.

#2 Offense DVOA and #24 defense DVOA. Which is #10 overall

At this point of time, it wouldn’t be surprising if the Hawks got boat raced by the Niners….
… but NFC asset divisional games are usually tighter than most regardless of records and talent levels.

One thing will probably ring true though, Seattle’s Swiss cheese defense will likely make Jimmy Glass look like vintage Tawmy Brady.

Imagine if we combined this year's offense with the offenses from the first half of Wilson's career, when they would be maddingly unproductive in the first half, only to have them somehow come to life in the second. A specific playoff game in North Carolina comes to mind
