I would be ok with Gonzalez, but does he want to come out of retirement?

If he reinstated, pretty sure he's still under contract with the Falcons.
That's correct, Gonzo isn't an option, even if he wanted to come back.....which he doesn't, and won't.

If the major concern is losing pass blocking ability, why is everyone suggesting pass catching TE like Gonzalez and Finley as replacements?
because fantasy football makes people stupid...

Incorrect. Fantasy football players know that Miller is a pass blocker (hence low ownership numbers). It's people who don't know the league who would make this mistake.

But they can't and don't distinguish between good pass blockers and bad ones. :les:

Sounds like a classic Pete "best case scenario", but I'll hold out hope for it.

Post is about receiving TEs and TEs whose primary job is pass blocking. So your point is irrelevant to the matter at hand.

And likely wrong overall. The % of fans who know that difference in pass blocking is likely dwelling in the low teens, if that. If I'm wrong, name the top 5 pass blocking TEs from memory.

Just as ironically, Gonzalez is characterized in this thread as a pure pass catching TE when he was very proud of his blocking ability.

If the Hawks need a short-term pickup, Kellen Davis is a name to keep an eye on. He will be able to fill in very quickly since he was here last year and he is a blocking TE. That would allow Willson to stick to receiving.

Yep, either Davis, Matthew Mulligan or possibly Steve Maneri (whom the Hawks have worked out previously) would make sense for a veteran stop-gap blocking specialist.

You guys are most likely the healthiest, or 2nd healthiest team in the league at this point. I don't think it's a big deal with your upcoming schedule... Cowboys, Redskins, and Rams.... It was just a scope apparently, not a huge surgery at all. You guys will still win the next 2-3 games and most likely be in first place in the division and NFC.

Redskins & Rams have a damn good pass rush. Im not terribly worried, but its still something to be somewhat concerned about.

Sounds like they want him back by the Rams game on the 19th.

Bailey and Gilliam can fill in for Miller's role as a blocker over the next couple games. And hopefully Willson will step up as a starter.

If the Hawks wanted to add another TE, they'd have to cut someone to do so.

Josh Thomas would be an obvious one if Tharold Simon is back and healthy.

Otherwise maybe Andrew McDonald depending on his progress.

Kellen Davis makes a lot of sense given the fact he was here last year.. bet this happens if they add someone.

Tom Crabtree is another name to keep an eye on, JS has familiarity with him and hes a great blocking TE. But I imagine Davis would be the first choice.

I would think it would be Bailey. I seem to remember him coming in as an extra blocker in the past.

Either way its a loss.. Miller had the ability to block and then leak out on a pass play.. utilizing a tackle eliminates that.
