If Jalen comes here, I expect it’ll be a year or two of counter reinforcement that no, you can’t frequently disappear. That whatever crisis you got going on, you got to turn it off for game day.

It will be harder for us than any other team given that 5 would have been where he would have gone without the arrest and pro day. The default message is that this is fine.
He could have gone at #1, and he still might go at #2. Why do you assume he's incapable of learning a life lesson if the Seahawks draft him at #5?

Wasnt KJ one of our Guys who can help Carter to concentrate on football and help him like a brother?
Not the best answer.
He wants the Seahawks to draft Hooker at 5
Then I'm glad KJ is not our GM. I love the guy, and value his opinions, but I think he's wrong on both counts here.

Any team picking after us has the advantage of Jalen having experienced “failure” for having gone less projected than expected. The further he slides, ironically, the greater his desire will be to prove that.

If he goes at 5 or above, the message is that he’s good enough already to chill when he desires to.

You keep saying that like there's an actual message, and you keep assuming what the message is. I don't give a crap about assumed messages, I want our team to improve. Specifically, I want out defense to improve, and I believe Jalen is the guy who's going to help the team with the most immediate and most dramatic improvement.

When what you’ve done your whole life has always worked for you, why wouldn’t you take that through life until Being proven otherwise?

The incident. Prior speeding tickets just a month before. The questionable work ethic (sorry…where there’s smoke, there’s fire), limiting visits to top 10 (mighty full of ourselves aren’t we?), no combine and coming in out of shape at his Pro Day.

If PC and JS take him…I’m fine with it. That means they’ve done their homework and we should have a baller on our hands.

Personally, I’d grab Richardson although it’s 100% risky. I don’t see this team competing for a SB in the next year or two. If he pans out, he’s going to be exciting to watch.

“Commanders declining DE Chase Young's fifth-year option.”

There goes the notion that D-lineman is a safe high pick.

It misses almost as often as QB does and rarely are they year 1 difference makers. It's why I don't get the win now argument for Carter

I am going to ask you this directly, so you understand that I actually want an answer from you regarding this:

Do you actually think that his friends dying and him going through survivor's remorse is not an actual life lesson?

How close of friends were they and where’s your source for him “going through survivor’s remorse”?

I mean, it seems logical but none of us know how this kid is handling it. It could be far from what you think. Maybe he doesn’t care too much about it at all and was just stressed about the impact to his reputation.

I don’t know the answer to those questions but, I don’t think you do either.

Your question wasn’t directed at me but if I had to answer, it would be “maybe”.

I will say that getting a speeding ticket for $1K, just a month before he drag raced with people he knew were impaired, speaks volumes on his ability to process and deal with a “life lesson”.

The life lesson imparted here is that Jalen doesn’t need to take responsibility because people like you are so concerned with projecting how “He must have felt bad.”

You act as though he needs to go on television and state that he murdered his friends and that he belongs in jail. Only then will he have learned a lesson sufficient for you.

Im not saying he should have been crucified. I am saying that as a consequence for him not experiencing a draft slide, he hasnt felt consequences.

Heres Sherm saying the Hawks should just pay for his apartment close to vmac and have staff escort him there

Tonight I will see if my premonition dream of us taking Carter at #5 really was a premonition.
Here's hoping it was an accurate premonition.
Life lessons...I lost one of the best and closest friends I have ever had in 2019. I mourn him every day. His life, and his passing, have had a tremendous effect of me. That I have undertaken other pursuits since then does not fill that void, but I do manage to focus on the task at hand and I am convinced Carter will do the same. With BWags and Pete, among others, guiding him I believe Carter will find the focus he needs to succeed. Either that or he will accept failure and be content to live out his life on that juicy signing bonus.

I'm 100% with you on this but my reservation with Carter has nothing to do with the driving incidents. I'm more worried about not attending team meetings, What people around Georgia keep saying, his lack of production and disappearing at key times including the playoffs where he wasn't good and couldn't stay on the field etc. He is probably the most talented player in the draft so I know he is capable I just worry about all the stuff coming out. Fascinated to see how it turns out and I will be rooting for the guy to prove all of us wrong.
