I'm thinking there has to be a financial deal in place already.

We massively overpaid for a guy fighting his way off his team and constantly complaining. Cant see how this could go wrong. Compare this trade to Minkah Fitzpatrick last year. We paid a ton more in draft capital plus we gave them Mcdougald who is a good player.

I may finally be ready for regime change. This reeks of desperation and all in attitude for the next 2 years. Not at all a win forever move.
His distractions have been small potatoes. I imagine he will be very happy here.
If we pay him a huge trend setting contract I am sure you are right. So we gave up Mcdougald 2 first round picks a third and will be paying him a huge salary. It is a massive overpay.

It is win now for Pete and Russ. They aren't worried 4 years down the road.

He’s going going to his generation’s Troy Polamalu. That’s easily worth what we gave up.

Agreed. I don't think most on here have watched this kid play.

He is disruptive to say the least

Alright, putting my money where my mouth is. I bet $50 to the forum that this bites us in the ass more than it helps us.

Do you not understand we traded so much draft capital AND STILL HAVE TO SIGN HIM

Basically we just traded 2 picks that wouldn't make an impact based on our history picking. For a guy who is an All Pro level right now? I'll take it. As long as wee kept those middle round picks, we will be better off because of this trade.

Another thing, cap has been agreed to for next year, but what about after ‘21? If cap falls through through the floor, guys under big deals will be huge anchors. So maybe it’s better that he is not extended now?

Lmfao this won't age well but alright. Who needs a 1st round caliber DT or DE when you can have a great SS for double the draft capital and price!

They are going to sign him, there’s no doubt about that aspect.

It’s a steeply priced trade but the kid is a proven high level football player.

Those first round picks aren’t proven, and historically we don’t do well with first rounders any way.

My knee jerk reaction was similar to yours but the more I think about it, it’s not a terrible trade ( save for a major injury).

again what good is a safety when the QB has all day due to no pass rush

what good is a safety when your QB is running for his life again.

I love the plaeyrs, hate teh price adn the fact we still have bigger needs
Also Wilson did not get his wich

were is the pass rush, were is the offensive weapons ie 3rd WR, were is the pass protection.

They went into this off season with 4 needs

pass rush
pass blocking
#3 wr option
another RB

we are 1 for 4 that is bad

Don’t forget, our first rounders aren’t likely to be top 20 picks.

The defensive players you’re hoping for are most likely not going to be available.

Pete ain’t going to “suck for Luck”.

I hope I'm wrong. Sincerely, I really hope I'm wrong. We gave up 2 first round picks and a 3rd round in the NEXT 2 YEARS for a position that WASN'T A strong need, AND STILL HAVE TO GIVE HIM THE PAYDAY HE DESERVES...I really really REALLY hope I'm wrong. I'll gladly wear the banner of shame if so but FFS to me this seems like a DRASTIC and DANGEROUS trade just to keep us in the playoffs. This just seems like a very strong reach.

I am behind a long term deal. Trading for him without an extension is crazy

The other thing is we are looking at a cap reduction. Value of draft picks just went up significantly
