We've had plenty of people do good things in practice over the years. The argument that I believe is being made is that coaches play the wrong guys based on practices, and I don't see how Tedric supports that. Who was actually better than him on the roster in week 8 of 2019?
We saw both Hill and Amadi later on, and they had fans asking the same questions about them. We then traded for Diggs after Thompson went out, traded for Adams this off-season and even moved Blair to a different position. Looking back on it, wouldn't you agree the safety problems of early 2019 were a lack of talent at the position, rather than the coaches picking the wrong guy based on practice?
On the other hand, coaches hype up players all the time who are not very good. I will wager that much of the "buzz" around Tedric's practices were initiated by the coaching staff and if there is a cautionary tale here then it's about buying too much into coach-speak when their job isn't to give us an accurate picture of the roster.

Some people are just good in practice, and then find another level when a game is on the line, others are great in practice maybe because of comfort but tighten up in the game moment for some reason, coaches hate the game day guys they make everything they say about practice look hypocritical.
That's the fan argument for why the guy they are supporting isn't getting playing time, but consider how few practices we actually get to see, and more importantly how the guys that people have made this argument about over the years have fared.
There's a very long list of players that people have argued here deserved a bigger shot than what the coaches thought based on practice. Off the top of my head; Kasen Williams, Jazz Ferguson, Terry Wright, Phil Haynes, Cassius Marsh, and JD McKissic over just the last year and a half or so. We could probably come up with 5-6 guys in every season since 1977 and the fans were wrong in every case I can think of.
Occasionally a player that we cut will leave here to go onto better things elsewhere, but like Michael Bennett that has more to do with system and development over time then that the FO just couldn't tell enough about them from practices.
