Hell no!! This is a diversity hire gone wrong. Very "Seattle" of them haha.

I have a question. What are those female referees going to do when there's a big fight ? Hochuli had trouble .

I think they should make an entire crew female , just to make it interesting. Let them officiate a playoff game .

The NFL is dying . Many on here will argue but I see it.

Seriously, about Half the nfl refs are old men Who have no chance if some fighter comes for them, which I’ve really never seen. Going against a woman would be worse and most nfl players would not.

That I actually agree with . The NFL should hire younger men who are in shape and can handle business if needed. Ex players who can run ,see and have endurance . My point about women is that I don't think a player would punch a woman on purpose but what about a couple of 300 LBers going at it and a 120-150 LB woman gets hurt trying to separate the two ?
I think the referees should have testing annually to make sure they can do the job and have a cut off for age.

???

I'm 200 LBs , in pretty damn good shape. Having said that, I don't think I'd want to get in the middle of one of their fights.

Do you have to say about my actual comment mr smelly? My take might not be popular but I don't attack people.

It's ironic such a big strong man feels threatened by a successful woman.

I'm not sure about women referees but it's not all about size. Knowledge and leverage make up for size quickly.

See Aaron Donald in games.

Only saw the first half today but it's like Schelreth was given a directive "you are on a Hawks broadcast, talk with a home team slant". He was quite the cheerleader

I hesitate to chime in, only because I don't want to be bigoted. I don't care whether it's a man or a woman. I care about how they sound and talk and carry the load. In this case, she grates me the wrong way because she over-articulates or over-emphasizes way too much. Not every comment needs to be treated like the play of the game. Not every second of the game needs to have the announcer talking over it.

She's good, at worst she is fine. I've been watching and listening to Hawks since 1976...in that regard she is top tier.
This complaint about "over-emphasize" is so coded. You don't understand that each announcer given a shot is putting together a highlight reel for future use. Should she be catatonic and bored because it's a pointless preseason game? Then you all would complain she has no passion.

As someone said upthread, the mos
Complaining about a lady announcer and someone praising Thom Brenneman. Yeah, nothing wrong with this thread./s

Have you ever considered that each announcer given a chance is putting together a highlight reel for future jobs? If she was catatonic and treated the game like the glorified scrimmage it is, that would be your complaint.
I've been watching and listening to the Hawks since 1976. She good, at worst she's fine. Better than the national crap also mentioned up thread. Collingsworth, Michaels, Aikman, Buck...please. Self aggrandizing tools.
And Costas? LOL. someone mentioning Costas as anything other than a sanctimonious pink-eye shrew is a clown.

40% of this country was going to rip on Liz based on the fact that she exists and tried to do a job someone like her hasn't done before, regardless of her performance.
So spare the "I hesitate" victim language.
Much like your namesake, "jazz", it's the words you don't say that mean the most.

Tell me your optimal Seahawk preseason announcer who did a better job and I'll review that

You almost had it. The NFL should be more age diverse for refs on the field. The NFL should invest more in both refs and technology. As the players and game became much more advanced both physically and with HD tv available to us all, the NFL stayed the same. Like literally, with the same Bogers and Hochuli's (spare me his physical fitness, curls don't make a tough guy) for decades.
But you are wrong on your water-head view that female refs can't stop fights...who can? Fights aren't broken up by refs or umpires, it's players and management and security that stops things.
Send me a link where male umpires break up fights and get things back to normal in a baseball fight. I'll wait.
How about Aaron Donald's roid rage against the Bengals? Who broke that up? Jerome Boger?

I'll wait

Men and women are different.

I prefer male announcers because of their voice alone.

Call it what you will. And I'm sure some of you will...

Thanks for your take.

My argument isn't that male referees can stop a fight. My point was that a smaller woman would have a greater chance of being seriously injured because of size and strength. Are you one of the people that think women are a match with men (physically)? I'll wait.

The world champion women's U.S. soccer team was beat by an under 15
boys team from Dallas. Not a team of national all stars , a team of 14 year olds won 5-2.

There's a difference.

Women refs were common in xfl and usfl, and there even are a few in nfl. I’m not worried that they’ll get hurt any more than an old man would get hurt.

Scrimmages are somewhat meaningless indicators. For example, the original Dream Team lost to a college team before the 1992 Olympics.

You're overreacting to my comment. I NEVER said she should be catatonic or anything along those lines. But I'm just saying that she's trying too hard to make everything she says like it's the play of the game. The greats don't do that. Even the not-quite-greats don't do that. But hey, you dig her style. Good for you. I don't.
