The talent & depth is better in alot of area's this year. It really is. I don't think talent is that much of an issue.

The biggest reason for our downfall at times, has been issues & the overall health of the Offensive line. It lead to Geno getting hit & hurt.

Also, way too many Penalties. The clock management at the end of the game was poor.

When your O-line has issues holding up & you routinely get flagged, it's going to be an uphill battle for anyone.

Fwiw, both of these factors have been an issue with Pete for the most part.

I don’t understand people’s lack of growing a team. Even Alabama in college football hasn’t won the championship in 5 years. Yeah, fire Saban, he’s the problem. It’s hard to win. It’s to the point it’s expected, and that’s a good thing.
Pete Carroll hasn't even won a divisional game since the 2014 season. That is close to 10 years at this point, that Super Bowl is further and further in the rearview mirror. Our only wins were against Matt Stafford with a bum throwing shoulder and screwed up ankle and a 40 year old McCown. The Vikings win
was due to Seahawks legend, Blair Walsh choking and missing a chip shot go ahead field goal in the final seconds of the game. Realistically the Seahawks should only have two victories to our name since the 2014 Super Bowl.

I don't expect a Super Bowl ever year, hell I don't even expect a victory in the playoffs every year. That being said, two(3*) wins within a 9 year span is a dreadful playoff record any way you slice it. At some point you have to start asking why. Carroll has created a very successful program, but quite honestly, we haven't been truly competitive with top tier teams for quite some time now.

We effectively have a Marty Schottenheimer figure running the show at this point. This year I think the same thing happens, we back into the wildcard spot, we get swiftly escorted out.

At this point the Seahawks are 3-6 in the playoffs over that 9 year stint. It realistically should be 2-7 considering the missed 37 yard field goal at the end of regulation.

I get that and respect that. I also watched this team starting as an infant in the early 80’s, and then watched the 90’s with some understanding of football. Holmgren finally brought me hope and did amazing things to bring credibility to this franchise, unfortunately never won anything. And then Pete came in. We have a chance every year. I’m not going to go look, but there’s lots of teams that haven’t sniffed the postseason. We make it and take it for granted, while forgetting decades of misery rooting for this team. It’s all Pete and Paul Allen’s belief. I cry every time I see the clip of Pete throwing a towel at him and then their embrace.

How are you perceiving growth when the same mishaps happen year in and year out regardless of the new faces and different players? And your perfectly fine with leading the league in penalties every year? Penalties that cost them wins?

Count me as not getting it.

This is where the logic breaks down.
How so? We make the playoffs every year. Is that not a chance? I don’t understand your logic. Better to miss the playoffs? Have no chance? Go sit under a rainy cloud while sunshine is an 100 yards to your side. And, you wouldn’t be any happier in that sunshine.

Mathematically I suppose there is. Realistically there isn't. There are teams that make the playoffs that really shouldn't because they have next to zero chance of advancing. That was Seattle last year (and in recent years). Did anybody truly believe they had a chance of beating San Fran last year? If so, how bad did it hurt when reality punched you in the face?

Nobody should have realistically expected this team to do anything. Where PC has failed in his tenure was trying to patch the 2016-2020 squads together and hold on. That’s when they should have said “okay, break it down and let’s do it again.” That has happened since. And you can see progress if you look. Can’t see the forest for the trees or whatever the quip is.

The Ravens are another notable example. Teams want to be like them with stability. Haven’t won a championship since before we did.

Packers and AR. 1 championship. A lot of you act like it’s just flipping a quarter.

This is one thing I agree on. They need to be active finding that QBOTF. Geno is fine for now. The defense is building into something good, the O-Line is turning into something good, we have playmakers and a good RB group. I see positive moving forward.
Naw, Pete will take a shiny new CB, cuz it's not about need, Pete just can't resist picking a CB high in the draft every year. No QB will be drafted.

Okay, my arm has been twisted. Here is what I think.

They will probably win 1 out of the next 4, only because it's the NFL. I can't actually point to anything tangible.

So that get's them to 7-7.

The final 3, Seattle will feast (As in barely win at least 2 of them.) of these bad teams.

9-8 min. 10-7 possible.

However, I don't think this is healthy. A losing season is necessary, for the powers that be to get there crap together, and chop heads. Going to the playoffs will just encourage them into thinking their flawed process is fine. And they will keep on keepin' on. Enough. It is clear as day that there are only 2 acceptable paths with the coaching staff. Which I've been preaching for about 4 years now.

Path A: Pete is a figurehead. Get high quality (guys with pelts on the wall.) OC & DC. Gives them their orders, and leave them to their tasks. This Pete being so involved in the schemes, is both screwing up the offense and defense.

Path B: Pete Retires / Moves to an executive role / Whatever / + New Offensive Head Coach, draft him his QB, and remake the Seahawks anew. With JS fully in charge of personnel with the coach under him in the power structure.

The Inexplicable and Likely Path: The Seahawks keep doing what their doing as is. Scapegoat a stooge coordinator maybe, and play pretend like it will fix it, which is insulting to our intelligence--and will not be tolerated by me, and many of my fellow Seahawks fans, as more and more of them wake up to the grift.

If Paul Allen hadn't died this would've been sorted years ago btw. Thx, Judy!

I doubt they do anything about coaching until Pete's contract expires in '25. He'll keep rolling out Geno, and Pete's Purgatory will rule for the foreseeable future.

It's some of both, but much more on coaching. They simply don't have the talent in the trenches to be a SB team. But they do have enough talent where they should be blowing out teams like the Commanders and not getting swept (again) by the Rams. The constant penalties (most of which are legit) says it all -- poorly coached, undisciplined team. "We preach it every week." Well, your approach SUCKS, coach.

The 2016-2020 squads had a better chance than the current team and it doesnt take an Einstein to know why.

Again, the current team isnt the same rebuild as the 2012 squad and for obvious reasons, yet some fans believe it is. And where is this progress you speak of? Yeah the team has new pieces at different positions, but the results are always the same. Same old, same old with Pete at this point. He has two years left at the most and within those two years, there will be no concernable difference than what we have now. Pete should have stepped down 5 years ago.

How many NFC conference finals were they in though? Seattle hasent been able to get out of the second round now for 8 (going on 9) years now. Big difference.

The path is already written Fade. Pete is in place until Jody sells. He babysits the whole thing for her and she just sits back and never has to dirty her hands. The Seahawks are just good enough in that she isn't losing money, so why change anything? Once she sells (couple years from now), Pete will be done and the new owner will finally bring in a different regime that will be left with some nice pieces to build with. It could go south for awhile or not, but the fact is, it needs to move somewhere other than this constant limbo, purgatory we're stuck with now.
