So there was a lotta back and forth in this thread. Does anyone know conclusively, IF the Hawks win out, are they in for sure?

You sound like you're bummed they won. This is what I expected to see today from a select group.
It was a great game, but I also know that with every game like this that we win the chances of keeping Shane Waldron and Hurt around. Those guys are dead ends for this team. It's complicated for me, I want us to win but I also know that consequences for winning potentially set the team back in the long run.

If the Hawks make the playoffs, they have the confidence in knowing that they have or can beat the teams they will face... except the 9ers. And with the 9ers. Who knows. IF they get to the point they are playing them, they will have closed the season with 4 straight wins, plus a victory in the wildcard round and will be riding a wave of confidence, no doubt. 5 straight wins with a close loss to the cowboys in week 13, a victory over the eagles in the reg season and (if they make it far enough to face the 9ers)a victory over them again in the wildcard - or Dallas. That team will be vastly more seasoned and prepared to take on SF than any time this year or last.

im conflicted in the same way. Only hope is that the success means those guys are actually improving as coordinators... or that Pete's heavier hand is what was needed to drive home the messaging.

Plus we won't have Jamal Adams starting hopefully. So we could probably win the Dallas rematch if things go similar.

Or if he is part of Pete's plans for starting again this year, can we please scheme a defense where he only plays around the LoS? Guy is a bigger liability in coverage than grandpa Wagner.

As I understand it, we need either the Vikings or Rams to be worse than us because of tiebreakers, that's why we would not ben f they started today.

Minnesota is on a third string QB with a good defense, but face the Lions twice

The Rams only really have to worry about the Niners, but Washington almost came back on them. Even a 2nd string Niner team could potentially beat them.

Personally I hope the Vikings are out and the Rams are in, and we get a chance to beat them. I think beating the Rams in the playoffs would be great.

I guess it's a week early to get scientific about it, and just take care of business this week. After Next week all the scenarios probably get really black and white.

Except for the fact that the Eagles have been in a free fall lately. Hurts has thrown just one touchdown in his last three games and the Eagles have now lost three straight games. They are a decent team but they're in a huge downslope.

This team is going nowhere in the postseason. We're not a good team this season.
IDK, how about the 2007 and 2011 Giants? 10-6, then they beat the undefeated Pats (who'd already beaten the Giants in the regular season)? In 2011 they were 9-7 and yet won it all.

Cinderella seasons don't come often, but they do on occasion happen...

If there's a weird year you might expect a dark horse to win it all, isn't this year feelin' like that?

Hell I get up at 4am and I watched the whole thing.
It was after 11:30 pm by the time I shut it off lol.
I did sleep good for the short time though.
LFG!

We're not the Giants. I have some huge reservations about our coordinators and game planning going into a postseason. I don't think we're going to all of the sudden catch fire, especially given our tendencies under Pete Carroll teams in the playoffs.

I will say this, we do have a talented team, but our coordinators are a huge anchor around the necks of this team. I think we're better than our record indicates, but I also don't believe that we have the right coaching staff in place. My confidence in Clint Hurt and Shane Waldron is just about zero at this point, especially Shane Waldron. How we've handled this offense is straight up negligent at points.

If we do go on a run I think that it will be more in the vein of an offensive display than with the Giants and their defensive masterclass.

Why do some posters not allow fans to be critical? So weird. A win is a win but this season has shown holes in our squad, sadly.

Fandom can include being upset at your team when you feel they're expected to be great and underperform.

Assume the Seahawks and Rams win out. Maybe then the Lions could put the Seahawks in the playoffs agan by winning at least 1 game against the Vikings.
