Don't forget that Brady is not the bread winner in the family......

"Year after year since 2002, Gisele Bundchen has made more money than any other model in the world. At 34, she is still sitting pretty at the top of the world’s highest-paid models list, pulling in an estimated $47 million before taxes and fees in the last 12 months."
You can look at his paycut differently. If you have that much money but love to play the game
it is truly worth it to have a better o-line and better receivers and not take a daily beating and get paid less.....
I expect the bolded part to be the truth of the matter.
It's much easier to nail Mrs. Brady after the game if he's not in a full body cast.
Also, remember her meltdown after Brady and the Pats lost to the Giants?
“You [need] to catch the ball when you’re supposed to catch the ball,” she is heard saying. “My husband cannot [expletive] throw the ball and catch the ball at the same time. I can’t believe they dropped the ball so many times.”
Although Bundchen mentioned no names, she almost certainly was referring to wide receiver Wes Welker, who was judged to have made the costliest fourth-quarter drop, along with a missed catch by tight end Aaron Hernandez.
So Gisele probably told Tom he must play for less so the team can afford good players to block for him and catch for him, and she agreed to kick in an extra $10M per year to the family finances. In return, Tom just has to wear a tux and show up at red carpet events. I'd expect that being Mrs. Tom Brady hasn't exactly hurt her career.
