Once again, nice relics of days gone by.

Yes. Relics, with an S.

49erNation, is that you?
Right, it's classy to poke fun at where someone lives or the people that live there.... But don't ever pull the "we won 4 superbowls and 13 world championships card" because that's below the belt....

Get a pair....

We? Right... I doubt you were alive for more than two of those and one of those may have come before you were out of diapers. Claiming something that was your grandfather's as yours is sweet. Kind of like talking up Green Bay as the best place on Earth while NOT living there. You are amusing.

Chances are, he is a shareholder in the Green Bay Packers, so technically, he is allowed to refer to himself as "we" when it comes to discussing his team. He is also entitled to be a part of the rich history and celebrate the many titles his team has won.

I would be willing to bet that if Seattle offered this, many of you would absolutely jump at the chance to own a piece of the team and you would take that stock certificate and frame it and hang it proudly on the wall. To be honest, it's pretty special and it is something to be proud of.

Do you give financial compensation to this site, instead? You should. It would be the next best thing to team ownership.

The Packers are owned by the fans, not a wealthy owner operating with a profit-at-all-costs (PAAC) philosophy. The Green Bay Packers are a publicly-owned non-profit with a unique stock ownership structure. Green Bay’s bylaws state that the Packers are “a community project, intended to promote community welfare.” What a refreshing approach. “It makes them an example,” according to ESPN’s Patrick Hruby. “A case study. A working model for a better way to organize and administer pro sports.” The Packers have sold out more than 300 consecutive home games and have more than 80,000 names on their season-ticket waiting list. Despite being one of the most successful teams on the field, the Packers’ ticket prices are among the lowest in the league. Unlike other NFL stadiums that have advertisements everywhere the eyes can see, Lambeau Field is relatively free of corporate sales pitches. The only ads you see are on the scoreboard. As a whole, the stadium provides today’s fans a similar view to what fans saw in the ’60’s. -

Packer fans do not "own" part of the team. The donate money to it.

You bought a certificate. You bought memorabilia. Nothing wrong with it, but let's clarify exactly what it means.

It means we own shares in our team:

http://www.packers.com/community/shareholders.html

All proceeds from the offering supported the expansion of Lambeau Field, a $146-million project that included a new distributed-audio sound system (2011), two new HD video boards and a new Bellin Health Gate on the north end of the stadium (2012), and approximately 7,000 additional seats in the south end zone served by the Shopko Gate (2013). To protect against someone taking control of the team, the articles of incorporation prohibit any person from owning more than 200,000 shares.

The corporation is governed by a board of directors and a seven-member executive committee.

Shareholders do not receive any dividend on the investment.

It's still pretty fantastic and please don't deny that this is something Seattle fans would not love to achieve.

You're not "achieving" anything. Seriously. The trolling language you come at these posts with is overtly condescending and self-aggrandizing. I like it better when you're just having a straight go at people.

You're donating $250 to the team for a certificate. Packer fans get nothing from it (except said certificate).

They have no operational say. Their stock is not an investment. Their stock does not move them up or down the list for tickets. Their stock can never be sold (because its not really stock). And if the team ever is sold, they get nothing from it.

It's a fan promotion. Cool if you're into it. I have nothing against it. Its special to the Packers (no other NFL team can do it anymore).

Trolling? The trolling comments are coming from Hawk "fans". Green Bay fans have been defending our team, city, stadium and offering help to those that request it when they come over for a game. Ptisme had nothing derogatory to say until he was insulted. He gave you places to stay, things to do and tours to take and an invite to stay into tents for free beer and brats.

I'm sorry if you feel offended or inferior when comparing our organizations. You can always rub the "Fail Mary" into our faces whenever you need something to gloat about. Is that the legacy you want opposing fans to remember your football team for?

Yep, it's a certificate that hangs on the wall that says we are part owners of the Green Bay Packers. We get no money, we get no dividends, we can't sell it or trade it and it is essentially worthless for selling back to Green Bay. But it hangs on the wall and we are shareholders that can actually attend meetings in Green Bay and we get to see where the money goes and how much was raised and we can even get up and speak and ask questions.

We are donating to the Packer organization for things that make our team and/or community stronger. It's our way of making the smallest city owned Professional Football team the very best we can. It's an ideal nonprofit model that keeps ticket prices down and season tickets passed down through generations.

It is about the coolest Stock I have ever bought and it hangs framed on my wall. I look at it with pride every single day I work from my home office.

PakerNation.

So you make a donation to a team that netted millions in profit last year?

I honestly don't get that.

But hey. You are happy and that is all that matters.

Carry on.

You have it backwards. I am correcting inaccuracies or pointing out why "ptisme" is stating "we" when referring to his sports team.

But really, what is the point? Can't you guys let it go, along with all the insults and let us help you on your trip up to Lambeau to see the game?

That would be nice.

Tbone started this thread looking for info about GB, why has it turned into another pissing match? This is the 'Main Board' folks, why not take the stupid arguing to the Shack, where it belongs. :les:

Seriously, I'm arguably the most argumentative poster on the forum, and I bowed out of this one a while ago. Let's give Tbone his thread back.

What all these Packer "owners" have done when they purchased their piece of paper is to subsidize the season ticket holders so they wouldn't have to pay as much and I'm sure those people are very thankful. They also got to increase the number of paid positions on the board because the people that were already on the board were given 1000 shares for every one they already had and some of them exceeded their 200,000 shares so they gave them to family members. The "original five" share holders have seen their shares multiply every time new shares are offered. Those families will NEVER be out of power in the Packer organization. So, while fans get to buy their one or two certificates, the original shareholders families have their shares multiply which makes them money because those people voted themselves onto the board and board members have highly paid positions.

Greenbay is amazingly ...small. I went a decade ago and we stayed at the Oneida Radison at the Oneida Indian reservation casino. It was pretty nice and I actually got lucky at won $800.00 from the slot machines there.

It's with in 10 miles of the stadium.
