This will be the ultimate tease if Mathis ends up signing somewhere else. Even bigger than Jared Allan.

I'm putting this out there, because I don't know. Is it possible, to use any of the money earmarked for Kam on Evan Mathis? Let say Kam holds out for the entire or even half the season, can we deduct that from the salary cap??

Get rid of Mebane? Blasphemy.

Mebane is very valuable to this team. We had a hard time finding someone last year to fill his role.

Fake account apparently

Haven't seen it verified anywhere else so it may indeed be a fake.

Look at his other tweets... its fake

Yeah, obviously fake, just look at the amount of followers the account has...20. Account is also not verified.

Probably just leverage play to get something from the Hawks, but if it's true, well it was a nice visit Evan. Chiefs can have him for that price.

Either this is just a rumor drummed up by his camp as a last ditch attempt to squeeze the Hawks for a bit more money, or the Chiefs are in severe panic mode to actually pay that price.

They are Fisher has a high ankle sprain and the Chiefs are seriously not happy with their OL. That's a fact from someone (me) that's a local. They think Alex Smith's issue is poor pass protection. It may even be a small factor but not the actual one or something a really good guard will elevate to the level he needs.

Well then damn... As much as I wanted him here, $20mil is absurd for a 34 year old guard.

Chiefs have to be pretty desperate to give $20 million guaranteed to a 34 year old player.

I actually liked what I saw from Britt at LG. The way he attacked off the ball looked natural.

Gilliam didnt blow you away but for the most part he seemed to recover pretty well. Houston isnt no joke... That was a very difficult assignment and I felt he competed and handled himself well.

I feel Britt and Gill deserve another opportunity with the line but if Im the Seahawks instead of Mathis, I would be looking at Chris Myers. If they truly like Nowak, then you go out and get a guy who can be an elite mentor for him.

Looks like Allbright might be wrong with his sources.

Evan Mathis responded on reddit, looks like he doesn't know anything about the Chiefs reported offer.

Maybe they actually did offer me $20 million guaranteed but my agent's just going to wait and surprise me later. Way to ruin the surprise, internet.

Benjamin Allbright @AllbrightNFL
To clarify, the guarantees are reportedly in ballpark of $20 mil, not contract.

Evan Mathis @EvanMathis69
@AllbrightNFL Whatever drugs your source is on must be some good s**t.

Interesting . . . we don't have anything close to the kind of cap space he is likely looking for. But maybe a one-year "prove it" deal for close to the veteran minimum to win a Super Bowl and stick it to Chip Kelly, parlaying it into a long-term deal somewhere else? Seems unlikely he would turn down more money elsewhere at his age and recent injury history.

Comes down to being a ring chaser i would assume. Other teams can offer more money.

Aren't all players chasing rings?

Uh, no.

See: Revis, Darrelle.

Yes, he got a ring last year. But he's a clear cut example of a player that chases nothing but cold, hard cash. And other players will follow his lead with that.

Yeah he is different cat, but kinda funny (sometimes). Last year he posted a a very large resturant bill on twitter and stated that they made the rookies pay for it . The internet/sports tv went crazy... It was a fake. The media deserves to be trolled sometimes. :p

If somehow the Seahawks do sign him what happens to the line? He comes in as guard and Britt goes back to tackle or Britt and Gilliam fight it out?

Britt goes back to tackle. Cable will choose nasty run blocker. Can Mathis play center?

I'm not sure how to say this without ruffling some feathers here. If we were 3-13 last season then yes, I believe this conversation would be warranted but, its not the case. Trading away key player for a over the hill OL isn't what I would call a stellar move.
The only trade possible at this point would be Bruce Irvin. To whom and for what? Were in great shape for 2015 its like nobody believes in JS & PC. I do. Cheers

I think one of the receivers gets traded as well. Can't keep all of them.
