I will contribute to this thread just one time because it seems like many people are agonizing over this. Having played football and listening to Dave Wyman (who I am sure has more credibility than I do), when Percy played in the Minnesota game it was evident that he was jacked out of his mind about playing. This has to do with Pete holding him out, not Percy playing through the pain. This guy loves football and has played with injuries in the past so please stop with the nonsense about him not wanting to play hurt. I am sure that was one of the first things this regime inquired about before trading for him. While it is frustrating that he is not out there, it has nothing to do with Percy being soft or not wanting to play. In fact it is polar opposite, the franchise is protecting Percy from himself.
Who ever called him soft?

If you watch Pete's last PC, look at the body language when asked about Percy. He looked very negative and shook his head when asked about Harvin practicing. I'm not seeing him play this game and maybe the next one.

Interesting, but I read on a forum somewhere (take this at face value) but teams knew Harvin would eventually have to have this surgery and evidently it was discovered during the physical at the combine. So, supposedly, teams knew it would be an issue in time.

Wash, rinse, repeat.

Just think how awesome we'll be in 2014 with Percy! Until then, we'll be awesome without him.

That would make sense. My theory is that Pete and John knew about the issue ahead of time but decided it was worth the risk.

Then during training camp they saw the effects and decided they wanted to address it early. Pete is very cautious when it comes to injuries and any other coach would probably play Percy.

If Percy makes one play in the Superbowl that gets us the win, he will have been worth every penny and all the draft capital we gave up.

Best case scenario, he contributes in the playoffs toward us winning a Superbowl and comes back 100% next year

Worst case scenario, he turns out to be a complete lemon and we cut him in the next couple years, using the cap room saved from his massive salary on quality vets looking to take less cash and chase a Superbowl (ie Avril, Bennett)

Not this thread but many posters suggested he was missing games because he is soft.

I had a feeling after his most recent "setback" that we wouldn't see him back until the last or next to last regular season game (both home games). I think they'll want him to get a little work in before the playoffs. But no way in heck they are bringing him back this week to play in frigid and possibly snowy conditions. And if Pete acts like there's still a chance for this week, he's flat-out lying.

Pete said he's calling it "week to week" until Percy is able to practice again, at which time the status will change to "day to day."

A colleague of mine who is an ortho hip specialist and also the same doc who Bob Condotta interviewed earlier in the season about Percy's hip told me that we should be concerned that it's possible that his hip may have no more cartilage given the protracted recovery. He told me if there is no more cartilage in his hip joint that his career as a football player is finished. He also told me, however, that it would be extremely unusual for such a young person to no longer have any cartilage.

Chin up, pilgrim. Harvin's been called many things worse than "soft" in his career. I wouldn't let it get to me.

I'm going to say that he will return if we lose to the Giants. ie. December 22nd against Arizona. If we win the next two and #1 is "locked up", then he won't play until January 11th or 12th.

Hey, I can read your posts on Tapatalk with the more sane font color. Awesome!

Hey, you're talking to an old geezer who has no clue regarding what is a "Tapatalk" !! I like yellow....it is easier to read since I am color-blind.

Oh well, Hopefully our boys can take care of business on Sunday without him. Sadly, I think we will have a tough time regardless.

Maybe we can just post new threads when he does practice so we don't have so many new threads. :stirthepot:

Yeah. I'm actually starting to think that he won't play until 2014. Even if we do make the superbowl.

But again like a lot of others. I just don't really care anymore.

Percy just texted me; he's being brought back slowly, and spending late hours into the early morning with our beloved head coach coming up with new and original trick plays to debut in the Super Bowl.

All is well, folks.
