Watching Pryor's college and pro highlights you can see what a unique running threat he is in the read option and empty sets. Although RW has proven to be just as good running the read option there have been times last year when RW chose not to keep it and missed opportunities for yardage because he is too valuable to risk injury. RW was hit on several read option plays last year when he merely motioned forward after handing off and this year more teams will be looking to get him out of the game at every opportunity. Well, Pryor can exploit defenses in limited read option plays because he is more expendable and more physically gifted. Pryor can test the defense with his speed and his brawn. RW can continue to frustrate them with his great decision making and scrambling thus saving his ribs and arms from repeated hits unlike last year.
The genius of this is when defenders get lulled into thinking Pryor is THE wildcat/read option threat and begin to relax on RW who may now be viewed as our premiere pocket passer. Suddenly RW explodes for 30 yards off a read option keeper from the weakside when they least expect it. Like candy from a baby folks!
Sorry if this was already discussed. Any thoughts?
