Greg Olsen Signed to 1 Year Deal

The Essential Online Seattle Football Fan Forum Community. There simply is NO substitute. LANGUAGE: PG-13
  • I'd rather sign Tyler Eifert than Olsen. Eifert is a good pass and run blocker, and will likely still have close to a $4M cap hit like Olsen.

Then we pray Eifert or Dissly can make through the season healthy.

    Yes.

    And yes again.

I'm also not entirely sure we're not going to reach on a TE either. Last year, it seemed that the Dissly prototypes came off the board early and often. The run on them probably starts mid second round and fills out through 100th overall. Not sure we can expect much if we wait until our 4th round pick.

    Nor do I.
Pete and John seem to really like have a big rookie class. And they've pulled off some big scores that way. But by % I think not so much. I'd like to see them pool some of those later picks to trade up and get a few really solid picks this time around.

It seems like if a guy wants to come here, he does.

  • I love Olsen’s game but I think it’s proven that older veteran players can’t stand up to the beatings in practice and games that occur in Pete’s system.

True. If he wants a chance to make the Super Bowl he is not acting like it. The Skins and Bills are not close to being ready. Negotiating with them means money is his interest. Not a chance for a ring. We should be looking somewhere else.

The usual Seattle is in the discussions but somehow I also am doubtful he signs with the Hawks. There is a reason why Carolina released him too.

  • Watching the newest All Or Nothing - Carolina Panthers is a great insight into the troubles he's had and continues to have with his surgically "repaired" foot. I loved the guy as a player a few years ago. But time has caught up to him and the fact is that his body is simply not as young as it once was and he's physically breaking down after years of pounding and abuse. Great guy, but it's a hard pass for me based on that foot alone.

Kind of surprised. I understand the pass on Wash, but Buff is an up and comer, and with the Patsies showing some weakness and uncertain about Brady, you'd think he'd be tempted to go there.

OK, I was not a big fan of the idea, but he's a Seahawk now, I guess, so Go Hawks!!! And go Olsen!!!

  • For those thinking this sounded like a lot (which I did), it makes him the 13th highest paid TE next year, right inbetween total game changers like Vance McDonald and Nick Boyle.

He's old and it's a one year rental but it's not a bad deal.

  • I love it. More 12 personnel and we won't be as predictable in two TE sets. This gives them more options in the passing game and Olsen is a decent run blocker as well. I love this signing.

  • Wilson wanted some star power, or at least that's what was reported. Sometimes, what you wish for isn't always exactly the answer. I like Owen alot, I think he'll be more beneficial in the locker room if anything. Dissly and Owens with a touch of Hollister, gives us something to look forward to if everyone can hold up health wise.

  • This is a great comment, and applies to all NFL players:

all I really know is the Seahawk's offense looks good when you have a 6th offensive lineman like Dissly that is an excellent receiver as well. His 4.8 forty doesn't mean anything .. when your getting ready to deal with him in the run game and all of a sudden he uses his short area quickness to side step you and now he has a five yard head start.

I don't think it means that at all. It is true that Dissly may not be ready by opening day, though, and this would held that situation.

Maybe Dissly goes PUP for camp and first 6 weeks and he can play in the 2d half of the season, when it really counts.

  • If he plays 16 games it is an okay signing. I have a sneaking suspicion he will be injured well before that though.

    C-

They just ate a bunch of money from the Ed Dickson signing and now they are going down this road again. The definition of insanity.

Can someone please inform the Seahawks that they don't have to pay out the ass for over the hill backup TEs, as they grow on trees relative to other positions. If he is a starter he won't last.

If you're going to spend big, might as well go big. Austin Hooper will have a lower cap number in 2020, of course the trade off is a long term commitment with huge cap numbers down the road, but he is also way younger so....
