While a part of me wants ALL of their players healthy and playing tomorrow so there's NO excuses when we beat them, it's moot since we have players out as well.

San Francisco will have no excuses even if Smith does sit. Injury is part of the game and it's a team's responsibility to maintain good enough depth to handle such issues. Smith is an excellent player, but if SF is so completely undermined by one player's loss that they can't compensate, it says something about the team.

We're missing our pro bowl corner. I don't see how anyone can possibly view this as an excuse.
