Point onThat is an issue at the mid and bottom first round - the variance in draft grades. No complaints here and I rarely let a chance to bash JS go by.![]()

I think there were better linemen there. Donovan Jackson and Josh Conerly come to mind. I like Jared Wilson better as a center, Tate Ratledge better as a guard, and Marcus Mbow better as a versatile up-and-down-the-line prospect. What would you have done? Tough to trade down when there isn't that blue chip guy who slid dangling there still on the board. Sounds like they tried.
I HATED this spot in the draft. Best players wouldbe gone and not much leverage.
But none of the linemen that you mentioned can play all FIVE positions, and that's how Schneider likes them.I think there were better linemen there. Donovan Jackson and Josh Conerly come to mind. If the coaches wanted Zabel, you gotta get them Zabel though.
I can't help but think of Grey Wolf.Does he have any nicknames? His name is unique enough to not need one, but also unique enough where people have probably made many for him. As a recovering alcoholic, it probably isn't good that "Grey Goose" immediately came to mind lol.
YepI would have taken Donovan Jackson over Zabel. He's more ready, polished and proven. But I'll take it, at least it gives us hope they'll straighten out the IOL. And maybe Zabel ends up being the better player down the road. And like some others here, I think he'd make a great center.
That's what was said last year when we got Haynes but he had a relatively tough year last year. Certainly was NOT plug n play as advertised. That is often the case with O Linemen. But I have hopes for Zabel to be the real deal right out of the gate.Iit! Seahawks got a steal!
And I thought you were just being friendlyIt highly depends on how many cocktails I had before trying.
Hopefully with the new scheme and better coaching, the OL will be better. That's what was said last year when we got Haynes but he had a relatively tough year last year. Be positive, I have Haynes starting this year:That's what was said last year when we got Haynes but he had a relatively tough year last year. Certainly was NOT plug n play as advertised. That is often the case with O Linemen. But I have hopes for Zabel to be the real deal right out of the gate.
Any common bully, dirt-bag name will do. As long as he produces. I don't expect much. Just that he knocks guys on their ass and yells at that players' crying mother in the stands "That's what you get... for lettin' him be out here with a bunch of killers!"I
I can't help but think of Grey Wolf.
Olu should be worried, someone is coming after his job.
Haynes had to play under Grubbs scheme and Huffs coaching. That's what was said last year when we got Haynes but he had a relatively tough year last year. Certainly was NOT plug n play as advertised. Isn't LG spoken for by Haynes? Not anytime soon I think. Our guard situation is in worse shape than at center. My guess as they put Zabel at LG to begin with.
Yeah. To me, it's take your pick among that pool. Something definitely tipped the scale in his favor which we're not privy to unfortunately. Maybe we'll learn something more in press conference.I can see it with the athleticism, but I think a few things work against Zabel. The anchor is lacking, he got worked vs. Colorado, and he's been bad with penalties in the past.
The positional versatility is billed as a plus, but I can only see him succeeding at center - and if you're taking a center at 18, I'm looking for a bona fide dude there like Jackson Powers-Johnson, Ryan Kelly, Tyler Linderbaum, etc. who is entrenched and experienced as a center who held up against top flight college competition.
I dunno. If Benton wanted Zabel, I'm down. I just don't see an 18th overall dude.
Satoa will beat out Bradford. I think Zabel will be LG. Olu will get better.Be positive, I have Haynes starting this year:
Cross - Haynes - Zabel - Bradford - Lucas
Lock and Darnold are happy troopers with our improved OL.
This only fuels those complaining the OL has lowest cap hit in the League....5 years of a really good cheap versatile OL is obviously terrible.
Bradford is very athletic and has an extremely high ceiling.Satoa will beat out Bradford. I think Zabel will be LG. Olu will get better.
