That's probably a fair assessment, glad he stopped by though. Just more of the cutting of dead weight and adding some beef.

Great move that needed to happen. This seems like a good sign that the FO has the long-term in view and isn't mortgaging the future to always compete in 2022.

They initially spread Mayowa's cap hit into the future with two void years (2023 2024) that would have cost us $1.5m next off-season in dead cap if we kept him this year. Instead we are getting that dead money out of the way this year which is the prudent thing to do when you're rebuilding.

Dunlap is another potential casualty for the same reason; $4.2m dead cap next year if we keep him this year. He's a draft hedge right now that prevents us from reaching for edge rushers, but if we pick up one or two talented prospects then we should move on from him as well.
