Out played and out-coached

How much of a factor is PC not putting things on tape for the first half of the year? Not a football scientist, but know tape is the bible, so don't most teams who think they might have some kind of playoff shot not expound on their playbook, but put things on tape to then build off of or completely fool defenses in big games?

Further, it was an AFC opponent, clearly playoff bound, would support the thought, game to game? Something a coach won't admit publicly?
