After spending the last hour researching this guy, I am super-pumped with this pick. In a couple years, I believe he will be looked at as a steal! Can't wait for Training camp!

Is it me or does anyone else see him eventually being our starting SS?

He could play the Whip Safety in a 4-2-5 Big Nickel... but you want this kid playing WLB. Let him run and chase sideline to sideline with his speed, and be a killer blitzer...

ACC defensive player of the year
Senior ball star
Blew everybody away with his measurable at the combine

That would be impressive if he had two hands

The only question I have about this pick is the Jersey's. So is it going to be Quill Griffen and Quem Griffen?

I've literally had that question in my head for the past month or so
In college they had SM Griffen and SL Griffen

I'm holding out hope for SHAQUI. GRIFFIN and SHAQUE. GRIFFIN.

Said it in another thread.

I wouldn’t have been mad if they took him @ 120.

Adds so much intangible value.

I see this as a move that helps our guys move past/ close some old wounds.

I’m stoked to watch the Whole draft play out.

I think we “killed it”.

Agreed.
I just don't see how this could possibly be a negative thing.

Seeing as how it was the mods who made the new title, I'd say yes, yes they should.

My daughter (who has inexplicably taken a keen interest in the Seahawks in the past year) and I started watching the draft this morning. I was telling her all about Shaquem and how awesome it would be if the Seahawks would select him for all the various reasons (great player, great story, getting to play with his twin in the pros, etc) so with each pick the anticipation would grow greater and greater. We would cringe until the pick was announced and then we sighed relief when his name wasn't announced. When the Seahawks selected the TE, we were like, okay seems like a good pick but what if they don't have a chance now to grab Shaquem?

So the next picks went by and we were starting to act like family members of the kid, lol. Then when it was our turn again (and my daughter noted the selection had her soccer number in it so felt it was a good omen) and as soon as the name Shaquem left Lawyer Milloy's mouth we both erupted with cheers as if we just won the damn Super Bowl LOL!

Who would have ever thought watching the draft in round 5 would ever have been such a fun father-daughter experience?

Go get 'em Shaquem. Damn happy to have you in the family.

I had almost the exact same experience. My 4 year-old daughter and I watched it today after we got home from golfing together and I talked to her about Shaquem so much apparently while we were out crushing golf balls into the water hazards that she asked me if we drafted him yet. After a few minutes of checking I told her no but nobody else had either. Her face lit up and her eyes got huge. Then the same thing happened to us as what you described - we drafted a TE and I had to explain to her that we cannot control it and we probably won't end up getting him but it's okay. Then we both watched pick by pick go by on the edges of our seats. When pick 141 came up we looked at each other and didn't even say a word. We both knew. And then it happened. I promise you the neighbors heard us scream at the tippy-tops of our lungs. I love this girl. She gets it. Future Seahawks kicker and/or lifetime fan. Welcome aboard, Shaquem. You're my new favorite player.

Situational player but the guy has WR speed should be good in coverage and coming off the edge and of course special teams.

If you use him like you used Irvin... you're going to see a special type of player.
