In 38 games at Georgia, he posted 44 solo tackles and 6 sacks.

Now, if we're just looking at stats, those numbers seem quite underwhelming, especially when you compare them to Aaron Donald's college stats. He played 51 games at Pitt and posted 29.5 sacks and 115 solo tackles.

So, what is it about Jalen Carter's game that has him ranked so high? Does he have some raw, untapped potential that didn't quite translate to on the field production? Or is this just a very weak interior D line draft?
If the answer is the later, then I firmly believe the Seahawks should trade down. If the option is the former, then they should take a chance on him.
Georgia's D line rotate in and out. Everyone gets to eat so their stat numbers won't be high.

I was a Houston Texans fan when they drafted Jadeveon Clowney. The team thought they were finally putting together the dominant piece they needed to match JJ Watt. The red flags on him were similar to what we see with Carter. "Takes plays off." "Doesn't have the discipline." "Can be dominant one game and disappear the next." Clowney gets hurt his rookie season and still manages to come back to make the probowl with the Texans for next few years. (I think Clowney paired with Watt is what helped drive him to be better and show up every game.) After that, he gets traded to Seattle and makes the Probowl Alternates team. Now, I wouldn't vote Clowney in as a first ballot Hall of Famer, but he did a lot to blow past the red flags.

Can Carter be anywhere close to that level of success? My worry with Carter is that the game is too easy for him. "Generational Talent". When has he worked through adversity and come out better on the other side? Would working with Bobby Wagner help Carter achieve greatness?

Shows he is a consideration at least. Personally I hope they pick Richardson.

Easy there. Nobody is saying he's a rapist or serial killer. Breathe in. He DOES has some legit red flags though. Damn good football player, but you also can't just act like he's a saint w/out legit questions about his love for the game and his character.
IF they take him, I'll be stoked. But I'll also be nervous, and it's justified.
Also, the comparisons to McDowell? Meh. McDowell wasn't HALF the player that Carter was in college. Before this recent event, MANY had him as a possible #1 pick in the draft, or at the minimum, the best player in the draft.
Fair points but if you look at his lower body strength then all those red flags go away for me. Lmao 🤣

Was listening the Man 2 Man podcast yesterday and a lot of Carter talk. What Dugar said was John and Pete have to determine if the recent issues are the tips of other underlying issues or just one-time occurrences

The possibility that would have me on the edge of seat the most on draft night is following the #4 pick if both Richardson and Carter are still on the board.

Meh. Still not sold. Interesting that so many are willing to overlook his lack of production and red flags, but focus on nothing but that when it comes to someone like Richardson, who is just as risky, but has a near unlimited ceiling. Not sure why that is.

It goes both ways. There are legit arguments on both sides. It's not just cut and dry one opinion is the be all end all, imo.
Not trying to argue, but are you saying you're not sure why people have opinions?

Truth. I guess that's what makes this draft so compelling.

I'll say it yet again, this front office can't win. If they pick him, a bunch of people will call them stupid. If they DON'T pick him, plenty of people will also call them stupid.

Watching Georgia games, Carter rotated in and out a lot, when he was in, he more often than not received double teaming.
So essentially teams had to gameplan for him. When was the last time we had a player that teams had to gameplan around?

And how many times did we NOT gameplan for Aaron Donald only to watch someone on our OLine get wrecked by him?
