They have got to be pushing the cap to the absolute limit with this signing-maybe they could still find a trade partner for Jeremy Lane by next week?

At this point signing more defensive players should not surprise anyone.

I'll take it. Freeney is a HOF player. Great veteran presence and leadership.

Be surprised if they pursue offensive lineman. Quality offensive lineman.

That is all.

All time great, hes past his prime and but he wont hurt this team. Will be a good veteran in the locker room and can still contribute in limited snaps.

Old dude might still have some snaps left in the tank.

Guy was an absolute beast not so long ago...

Hopefully Clark and some of the other young guys can pick up Freeney's spin move. That is one of the best pass rushing moves of all time.

:ditto: Exactly. If Clark and the other youngsters listen to what he has to teach, that'll be worth bringing him in for sure, if he can't contribute much on the field himself

This is a passing league, one can't have too much pass rush. This is one area we could use some boost, Freeny is cheap, so why not?

Not a very distinguished list beyond Blair Bush. Heater swapped to #57 in his second year.

It will be a long time until that stinker of a 59 is out of my memory.

And which quality offensive linemen do you propose they pursue?
You must have some in mind.

I don't think that's what he meant.

And Peterson, three years, 249 tackles, 24.5 sacks and three interceptions. Not too shabby!

Meh, his age matches his jersey number. At least he's cheap. Not expecting anything from him unless they let him use his cane to trip O-lineman.

Does it mean the former Oregon star won't play? Name escape at the moment.

He’s 37

Julius Peppers is 37. Still doing well in Carolina, 6.5 sacks.

I'm pumped. I believe in equal opportunity employment and it's about time Seattle employed the elderly.

Love it, low $ deal I'm sure. A vet presence in that rotation, and should help give Bennett a few plays off. You can tell he's fighting thru a lot of pain.

The biggest beneficiaries of this signing could be Marcus Smith or Branden Jackson.

True, but IMO the biggest beneficiary is Bennett. Now that he's getting older and getting all these nagging injuries, he can't be playing 80-90% of the snaps. It's worn him down and made him even more susceptible to injuries.

I love this signing. Freeny is old, but he's so smart, savvy and will teach some of these young guys a LOT.
