Cardinals also look good. They're missing their 1st round pick this year and have a fairly young defense. NFC West should be the best division for years to come

Yeah the Rams have been the up and coming team ever since Fisher (who I think is a bit overrated) got there. Not buying that they are anything other than a team that can jump up and bite better teams now and again.

imo, the players these teams bring in will be more important than the ones they let go. seattle seems to have the edge over sf in identifying the best prospects. and russell is a more complete player than kaep.

Yep. As I said, sucks to be any of us. Zona will stay at the bottom because of age, QB and they are falling into the trap we were stuck in for years...winning just enough games to either have to trade up, or draft too late for a solid QB (etc.). If not for *$%&^ Dan Snyder, The Rams would suffer a similar dilemma.

But your QB situation, IMO, is just as troubling. Do you guys stay with Kaep and how much are you prepared to pay him if you do?

yes the 49ers stay with Kaep.. but it's hard to say how much we are prepared to pay him. ideally we get him for around top 10 money at the position. it all depends on how the season ends

That's one way to look at it except it won't paint the whole picture because we don't know who the hawks will lose. We know the super stars will be locked up. Okung, Wilson, and Thomas are guaranteed to stay. Any critical player for us isn't going anywhere, despite whatever niner fans may hope for.

Oh and the little thing about we have Wilson and the Niners have Kaep.

The part of the equation that the rest of the division is going to have to deal with in the future is the ridiculous amount of draft picks the niners have accumulated. Not a ton of holes to fill along with 6 picks in the first 3 rounds means they will have the most ammunition to work with come draft day. We have yet to see Tank Carradine and Marcus Lattimore as well from this last draft as they were drafted with known injuries. Niners are setup about as good as a team can be for the future.

Good, solid points. 4freakin9...The Lattimore pick was very smart. Possibly smarter than our CM pick, the way it's looking now.

When I was a kid, the Celtics, Bucks and 76ers would beat the shit out of each other as the Lakers skated through the west. That's what is going to happen in the NFCW. We will soften each other up for more rested teams. It's going to be football hell. Can't wait.
