The deep ball only worked as well as it did because of the commitment to the running game. On at least two of the deepest passes, both times the defender was peaking into the backfield. The two work together in an offense like this. Dallas just has talent all over the place.

Yes they work together, but you did not need to waste 3 qtrs plus before letting your QB actually play. You could have after the 2nd run, run, long 3rd and punt say. Hey let's try letting the pass set up the run. But nope they waited til lit was too late, the defense was gassed and there you go Bad coaching

True ........ and they were going up against 3 very competitive corner backs. [tweet]https://twitter.com/NextGenStats/status/1080962454782263296[/tweet]

Russ rarely has wide open receivers streaking down field. The deep ball worked as well as it did because Russ made perfect, extremely difficult throws for most QBs to make. According to NextGen, according to PFF, according to base facts. People will credit the run game but we got as far as we did because our efficient, explosive passing was something to be reckoned with

Otherwise, number 1 defenses and number 1 rushing teams would be making deep playoff runs every year

*allas is not the better team and the better team didn’t win.
I am wondering what part of their team is not better than ours. I would give the advantage to each of their position groups except that Wilson is much better than Dak. If Baldwin wasn't injured, I would give our receivers the nod, but he was not healthy in that game and played for the most part invisible.

As much as anyone wants to bemoan the game plan, the Cowboys won the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Their defensive line was significantly better than our offensive line. It may have been the fact that a couple of our linemen were hurt, but the Cowboys line was solid all season and gave some better offenses than ours fits. Their offensive line outplayed our defensive line. We only had two tackles for loss, which was not on Elliot's effort to get back to the line of scrimmage, it was the fact that we were not hitting him until he was at least a yard past the line. We only hit Dak five times with only one being a sack.

It is a testimony to Pete that we were in the game at all. The team played above it's head for most of the season. Could we have won if we had passed earlier? Quite possibly, however maybe it gets Wilson injured with how they were crashing the line practically every play and we lose by more than twenty.
