So you cherry picked all the facts and stats in favor of the hawks and pointed them out the panther fans. Don't get me wrong panthers have a tall order to compete with us this weekend, you make a valid argument. However panther fans know this and know they aren't supposed to win. If they do win it will make posts like this that much sweeter to them. You have just piled up a huge order of crow if we lose. This thread will go crazy with panther fans. I would lay off the smack talk and negative statistics and let the game play out. The time for pointing out their deficiencies is after we win.

I think you are sort of missing the point of the OP's post. Take a tour of Carolina Huddle (for example of some Panther forums), and [as ringless put it], you not only see fans supporting the Panthers and rooting for them to win (completely understandable and expected), but seem to be actively delusional.

It's one thing to say, "Hey, we're a playoff team and we have a puncher's chance". It's another to say, "I like our chances because of X,Y, and Z" when X, Y, and Z are suspect at best and ignoring a host of other factors at worst.

Didn't they make it to the SB in the 2003 season?

Another meaningless fun fact: that Eagles team had more playoff experience and won in CLT during the regular season rather handily before the tables were turned in a rowdy Philly during the playoffs.

In addition, the 2003 Cowboys and 2005 Bears also beat the Panthers in the regular season. The 2008 Cardinals and 2013 49ers lost, turning the tables the other way.

Ha... the thread title was obviously rhetoric as in "cmon let's here more excuses while denying the plethora of facts against your team".

I'm not trying to knock anyone off their pedastal, I'm just merely stating the facts, and rather have Panthers fans come here acting all high and mighty as another poster described them as practically "delusional".

Do the Panthers have a chance of winning, of course they do, but those chances based on data are less than 8% in my mind and the way they've straight up been man-handled on the road this year by non-divisional opponents doesn't help their chance nor the facts Newton and most of these Panthers have never been to the C-Link against a play-off crowd and a prime-time game where Carroll has been what 12-1 in his tenure.

I'm just saying its going to a miracle plus the Seahawks playing their worst game of the season for them to lose against the Panthers.

And am I wrong?

Cardinals won in 2013 with a miracle catch by Michael Floyd in which Byron Maxwell knocked the ball away twice couple with the fact the offense had its worst game of the season and a bad game plan (run-run-deep pass) trying to test the Cardinals safeties deep.

Cowboys won in 2014 with a miracle catch by Terrance Newman on a 3rd and 20 where he makes a beautiful sideline grab after Romo narrowly escapse pressure by Bruce Irvin. The offense then had one of its worst games of the season headlined with Percy mucking up the game-plan by being selfish and injury to Bobby Wagner allowed their Run Offene to pick up and injury to Byron Maxwell forced the Seahawks 4th and 5th CBs into the game.

It is what it is

I just don't think the Panthers have what it takes this barring something rather miraculous.

Bottom-line... as long as the Seahawks play their game... they are just too good at home... not to lose even against a team that is running on a 5 game win streak.

49ers had a 7 game win streak going into the NFC CG and were dominating the Seahawks up until halftime... they lost.

2 time Kings of the South, haha. The Panthers were actually really good last year and scared me quite a bit, but this years version just doesn't feel the same. I wonder what an 1-8-1 stretch would have done for their chances to be Kings of the NFC West. We had a 3-3 stretch and thought it was the end of the world

I don't know, 78 yards of total offense is pretty impressive I don't care how lousy Arizona's offense is. I am really curious to see how this team plays out. We had a troll on our board but for the most part, Carolina fans seem pretty cool. The big think I would worry about is Cam's lack of accuracy and if he struggles there could be many cookies to be had. Without Star and with Max back Carolina will have to commit many more resources to stop the run and that usually spells doom but we shall see.

Again 10% of the cap gone in one fell swoop of Atlantic City casino elevator video. Smith gone, Gross gone, the entire WR corps gone, the entire secondary gone, 10 new starters from October, QB busted all to **** on and off the field, legal or not (Burfict), etc. The list has been discussed ad nauseum. No they may not be stronger on paper, but IMO they're stronger mentally. Win or lose there is confidence Saturday and going forward based on what has happened and the hurdles that have been overcome.

Can I ask why you think Carolina is stronger mentally aside from playing with "house money/nothing to lose" ?

we started this season off very poorly and inexcusable. We lost our probowl DE because our owner caved under pressure, we lost our all pro LT to retirement and our pro bowl WR was cut, we had a patchwork offensive line and lost the entire secondary and WR group. Despite all this, we win the division albeit a weak one and ever since the Minnesota game the team has lit a fire.

You lost your Pro Bowl DE because he's a scumbag and should be in jail. Your owner finally did the right thing. The sad thing is that he waited to do it until the pressure was too great.

Me either.

If only there were some kind of IQ minimum for using the internet...

Have you heard of the phrase "the kettle calling the pot black" much.... just putting it out there.

2012 was a 4 PM EST game and the Panthers were coming off THE most maddening loss in franchise history @ATL, 2013 was the opener, how is the 1 PM EST an advantage there when no one has played any game to compare or adjust? And 2014 the Hawks had just played a 1 PM EST @STL. I just fail to see any advantage with the start time, and the Panthers are 14-9 all time on the west coast.

Admittedly, the Panthers have had less of a HFA, relatively speaking, than the rest of the league and won @SF, @NO, and @ATL, while losing at home in the same year to these teams. All time, there have even been more road playoff wins than home.

Amazingly, the Panthers have won more games in December than any team in the National Football League since entering the league. A bizarre but true stat. Cam also has the second highest active December win % after Brady, and that includes a loss @Arrowhead the day after the murder/suicide there, a game they clearly showed compassion to the Chiefs. The bottom line is they simply play better at the end of the year.

Just food for thought.

It's a good thing that the game is played in January then...haha.

Carolina is playing much better and they are their division champs. They have won enough to be where they are at. Credit where credit is due. They deserve to be playing in the divisional playoff game.

The reason I feel the Seahawks have an advantage in this game, besides being at home and being very good, is that the Seahawks have been facing top defenses over a month. It's been a gauntlet like - tough defense each week. 49ers twice, Rams, and Cards twice. Thus the Seahawk offense has been battle tested for playing tough defenses. Carolina has played Arizona but what other top defenses have they played? Do you consider the Vikings, Browns, Falcons, Bucs, and Saints top defenses? I don't.

Because you can poo poo the Saints and Falcons all you want, but the fact is they were trying, at home, expecting to win, and the Panthers showed an amazing resliency and focus to not only win, but to destroy. And in the Falcons case it was after the car accident with two broken bones in the back. Now Rivera's house caught fire and Lotulelei is out. Adds to a long list. They've earned the chance to continue to fight this Saturday.
