I believe because of this extra day of rest and the game being on Sunday I expect to see Harvin practicing by Thursday.

Obviously it'd be great to have Harvin, but I was alarmed at how much punishment he took, and more importantly how he wasn't "In football shape" as they say.

Harvin's rep is for being one of the toughest SOB's in the league, but he looked anything but on Saturday. Not his fault, but I was alarmed at how brittle he looked. So even if he does make it back, his ass better be ready this time for getting hit........cause SF is going to do THE.EXACT.SAME.THING.

So getting your head smashed on two separate plays is brittle? Noted.

And for 'be ready for getting hit' I hope he practices running full speed into the endzone, laying out looking only for the ball, and getting his head repeatedly driven into the turf by our secondary at full speed. That way his skull can learn to absorb hard grass easier in case any team is head hunting.
He might need one of those wes welker helmets

What about his shoulder? I read somewhere that he was seen in a shoulder sling.

According to Pete Carroll, the only injury concern with Harvin is the concussion. [Yes that means his hip is doing fine too.]

Kevin Shockey ‏@KevinShockey 13 Jan

@_MParker @bcondotta @DaveBoling @JerryBrewer @Softykjr he absolutely was NOT in a shoulder sling

Always get a source. Rumors from somewhere will give you a heart attack. If it's out there, someone on twitter tweeted about it.

Kirwan (PC friend) said just now on Sirius radio that his hunch is that Harvin won't play this week. Could mean nothing, could mean everything. The fact that he's friends with PC is the only reason of noteworthiness.

Let the moan-fest begin.

Honestly, I doubt even Pete knows when he'll be ready. It's all done with specialists and they have to be cleared by non team doctors, so it's likely that we are game planning for him NOT to play and if he clears protocols it's a bonus

I'm just assuming he is a no-go. He's had head issues in the past with migraines, and often times the headaches are what keeps players from coming back quickly.

Migraines and concussions are two different things. Zero correlation, not sure how you can even list them in the same sentence. His migraines were a result of sleep apnea...he has fixed this.

Even if you don't believe me.... I have a question for you.

I really don't think we will get an answer until game day. He took two heavy collisions to the head so one must assume he must be feeling the effects somewhat as a result.

My hunch is he will be ready and score 4 touchdowns for which he will attain 215 yards and will finish off by punting the ball into Harbaugh's nuts, which will give him something real to cry about.

Figured I would post this here in case anyone hasn't seen it yet, looks like it is just about passing the concussion test at this point is all.

If nothing else, that's a great sign for next year. I was worried that he just wasn't going to be able to get that hip right again. I started feeling better about that though when I read the posts talking about the rest of his body needing to "learn" his new hip.

He missed 3 games.

I know they aren't directly connected and that his migraines were not concussion-related. I just meant that he has had head issues in the past and he missed some time because of it. If he naturally has issues in his head that cause pain, his head might be a bit slower to recover from the concussion. That was all I meant. I'm no expert or anything, obviously...just throwing it out there.

I'm assuming he's not playing.

Someone told me that players generally do their concussion tests earlier in the week, usually the day after the game. And that Harvin being tested so late in the week is not a good sign. Add that to the Kirwin comment and Im not as hopeful as I was previously.
